LOL - I left a comment (the first) saying how sh*tful the ad was. Then I got a message saying it had to be approved! They have probably had a few hundred comments and none like it lol. Softc*cks.

Apparently Vlad does the approving!

The AFL ads have all been ordinary since the "I'd Like To See That" ads 20 or so years ago.

i don't get who their ad is aimed at

it would make sense if the game was international but it's not

some may not like the new NRL ad but you can see it's aimed at women, kids and the indigenous

The AFL did do one good ad a few years back. The one with the score from the film The Departed.

I like the footage in our new song, but it's pissing me off because I keep getting the actual song stuck in my head. Frustrating as all hell.

lol@the AFL's new ad. People would be thinking "who the f**k are these ballerinas jumping high dressed in tight shorts and singlets."

They are growing the game. Give it a few weeks, and Perth Red will demand Cronulla be replaced by a side from off the coast of Vladivostok

I'd happily have the Sharks not in the ad rather than constantly being the team losing or scored against.

Yeah - I commented to my Missus that I only noticed the Roosters once (celebrating a try) but that made a change from watching them lying all over the floor as other teams celebrated - which is what I normally notice whenever there is an ad campaign for the footy.

I'm never sure if the ads are put together by the NRL, Nine or Fox though.

So I'll play it safe and call them all bastards.

It wasn't the score for The Departed, it was the song I'm Shipping Up To Boston by Dropkick Murphys, which also happened to be used in the film.

That AFL ad sums up the entire organisation- completely delusional.

QUOTE]

Jees, I agree. That AFL is rubbish. Got a real Seppo feel to it that AFL ad?

They toss on about it being "Australia's game". It is Ireland's game, slightly adapted. I'd be embarrised if I were an AFL supporter.

Its up there with BP (i.e. British Petroleum) "the great Australian company" advertising series of the 80's. How dumb do they think the Aussie public is?

On the subject of the new NRL ad, I wasn't a fan at first when I first saw it online, however, I saw it on TV tonight and it looks really good on a big, widescreen tv. Not bad at all.

Got to agree there but I guess they're trying the 'big picture' strategy.

On the other hand, I'm no fan of the NRL ad either. Nothing really in it to interest new fans, nor elevate pride in existing fans. It's wall paper. You know, like all the other NRL ads of the past few years.
