He isnt anything special to me. Didnt defend well at all the only thing i seen him do good was kick goals. Thats it.
no he isn't.....yet.
i was waiting for a forum / magazine to start calling joe williams as the second coming of andrew johns or some bs after last nights game, some don't disappoint.
the only thing you saw the guy do was kick goals last night ? you didn't watch the game nor can you make an intelligent comment about his performances if that is the case.
from another thread i posted in:
simply joe williams is a talented footballer who is still unproven in 1st grade despite a points win over matt orford tonight. the key for souths fans and souths coaching staff is to see if this guy backs it up week in week out. remember, we have had 14 different number 7's since returning who at one stage looked like the one to inherit the position.
i have watched the guy a fair bit as a lower grader and the ability that stands out the most is his kicking game whether it be long or short or kicking goals.
he can pass off both sides with the same distance and accuracy with a clever step holding the ball in 2 hands putting doubt in the opposition mind.
his defence is not as bad as some above have suggested ? i ask do you attend rabbitoh lower grade games ? he was not up to scratch last start in his rookie game i give you that, but he has not been questioned before hand in premiere league. if anything, his consistency has been questioned where he can be dominant one week, then step back a gear the next.
i ask souths management to protect the kid from journo's looking for another feel good souths hard luck story and let him concentrate on being a week in week out nrl player not a flash in the pan.
gives the new coach for 2005 something to get excited about though, if the form remains consistent, he gives us more options on the player market as well....
joe williams could be a flash in the pan, we have had many. i certainly hope he is the goods, but he has to show me week in week out consistency before i start jumping on the bandwagon that the so called 'knowledgable' fans of today may well do.
