That's a start. Crowds are down, ratings are down and we're losing money despite revenue being far higher than ever before. I'm not sure who's to blame but something needs to change.

I guess Uncle Nick will now get his way and get the cap increased to 100 million so he can buy up both SOO sides and the Kiwi's side and what he doesn't want the Dogs and the Brooks can fight over

Michael Searle or Brian Waldron surely.

But seriously, if they're looking for someone to do a better a job there's always the inanimate carbon rod.

It doesn't end there. Clubs have never received so much money and still most still lose money.

Happy to see Grant go, he spent his time capitulating to everybody instead of doing the best he could for the game as a whole.

We could do worse then getting Raelene Castle to replace him.
I thought she did well at the Bulldogs, she has plenty of experience, she seems relatively non partisan, she's available, and as a bonus, hiring a woman in the position would be good for publicity.

Anyway just a thought.

In the old days club ran: First Grade, Reserve Grade, U23s President Cup, U19s Jersey Flegg Cup, U18s SG Ball Cup, U16 Harold Matthews Cup.

There was also a strong second grade Sydney comp as well as very strong Newcaatle, Wollongong / Illawarra, South Coast, Riverina, Northern NSW, Central West comps. You also had the BRL and associated Qld divisions.

As revenues have increased, the NRL clubs have continued to shrink their responsibilities, seen regional areas participation dwindle and seen expansion teams in Brisbane, Newcastle and Illawarra all but destroy their local RL comps. Canberra have probably been best at looking after their region.

There needs to be a participation pyramid with investment in to the grass roots. The best will always rise to the top but having NRL reap what so many others sow is not fair.

The money raised by NRL that the clubs want to blow and cry poor again and again is made off the back of countless volunteers and clubs across Australia. Its high time the ARLC told the clubs this what you get and this is what we give.
