Why is it devaluing the NSW Cap??

This is sideshow alley cricket, not the fair dinkum stuff. That in itself is devaluing the NSW cap.

Great publicity stunt for the bluebags and I hope it goes well for them. But if they played him in an ING cup game then thats when it becomes a farce.

20/20 last year was used as a way to get young blokes into the NSW team and to give them a taste of top level cricket.

Who gets to miss out for the publicity stunt?

But isn't that why we have 2nd eleven and colt teams??

20/20 will never be anything more than sideshow entertainment.

The only taste of big time cricket that 20/20 gives is how to slog from start and finish and makes bolwers figures look more like ten pin bowling scores rather than bowling figures.

When playing 2nd XI cricket, how often are they on TV, or in front of 20,000+ crowds?

Never.

Which is why it's the perfect avenue for young players to get their feet wet.

Its not the perfect avenue. 20/20 format of the game teaches them bad habits.

How many times do you see the Pura Cup on TV or played infront of 20,000 + crowds?? Never, yet that is still the best avenue to get young guys ready for test cricket is it not...

All 20/20 was for, was a bit of entertainment because the english domestic crowds were down and they saw it as a money raising, fun for the family, all over in 3 hours specticle, and now the rest of the world is catching on.

When 20/20 becomes a serious international competition, with world cups and regular tournaments (not one off games before ODI series) I will whole heartedly agree with you, but at this current point in time, I think this is a good way to attract people to the ground for this format of the game and for cricket nsw to raise some money.

Haha. Tim Smith should be QLD half. Would be a few good blues!

But really, its just 20-20. Its a publicity stunt, which has worked. Everyone is talking about it. He will prob play 1 or 2 games at most and will most likely not really get a bat, unless its right at the end, so whatever. Will be interesting to watch.
