Oh FFS. Thurston isn't close to him.
He hasn't had a lack of talent around him. He should have had multiple premierships as a starting half by now if he was on the same level as Johns or even Lockyer.
I'd have Cronk before him as a #7 now.
Great player, but he's no where near being an immortal contender.
Has never dominated week in and week out and year in and year out at club level the way Joey did.
This shouldn't even be a question.
He has One.All of the greats, especially in the modern era have steered their teams to a premiership. Sterling, Mortimer, Stuart, Langer, Johns etc have won the big one. Thurston has that lacking from his resume to even be in the conversation as a rival to Johns.
Yes, Thurston has all the individual accolades, awards, rep records in some all conquering teams etc. though there is one glaring hole and he needs to get that premiership ring before his career is done.
He has One.
This guy is better than Thurston, he's won a premiership at 7.
