These types of comparisons are unfair, Joey was on another level when he wanted to be most of his career to anyone I had ever seen. Cam Smith is probably the guy that would be much better in this discussion.
Thurston has some Joey like qualities and some of his own like his speed but he doesn't turn it on consistently, maybe he should do the Fittler retire from rep footy scenario, Fittler went to another level at the Roosters when he did that. Cam Smith plays like everyone else is in slow motion, the great players have time on their side and Cam Smith always seems to have so much time.
Cam Smith is the only player in the game right now that is at that level, Thurston I think we need to wait until his career is over.
I don't know if he is as dominant as Joey was but then again he doesn't have to be. Smith is the puppet master who does what he has to do. Joey was more skillful himself but could also be the puppet master. Joey had everything but speed, but his running game was still good.Great post. Agree. Cam Smith is a future Immortal and in my opinion will be the most decorated player to have played the game when it's all said and done.
Yeh that premiership he won from the bench, I'm sure the Dogs couldn't have done it without him.He has One.

Smith has improved his running game as well, that was his one weakness but over the last season or two he has really become dangerous on the run.
Someone gets it.
:lol::lol::lol:
Yeah Bunniesman is the guy you want in your corner to convince others you are right
:? Too new to "get" the post though what is there to argue there? Thurston was the catalyst for the Bulldogs premiership success that year from the bench? Nope. The post from BunniesMan is correct.
I know you are new here Mar.
First off welcome aboard mate.
There are lots of passionate posters here, some nice, some not so nice.
I hope you enjoy it here and post for years to come
A better comparison would've been thurston v sterling
Disagree.
Jonathan Thurston vs Stacey Jones.
Weak.Weak counter. Thurston "steered" the Bulldogs to victory?
The bolded part is 100% wrong.Yes, Thurston has all the individual accolades, awards, rep records in some all conquering teams etc. though there is one glaring hole and he needs to get that premiership ring before his career is done.
Oh yeah, and Andrew Johns is the best defensive halfback that has ever set foot on this planet.
Weak.
I just corrected your geniused statement.
The bolded part is 100% wrong.
He has Premiership ring.
You claim he doesn't.:lol::lol:
All of the greats, especially in the modern era have steered their teams to a premiership. Sterling, Mortimer, Stuart, Langer, Johns etc have won the big one. Thurston has that lacking from his resume to even be in the conversation as a rival to Johns.
