I'm a believer that there should be at least one board member who has an NRL background. Not necessarily a player. Could be a coach, administrator etc preferably with an Eels history. Probably a tall order for our club though.
Sounds like the next meeting might be worth attending. You could shout me a beer? 😁
I agree with that concept too, however it does need to be someone with a little bit of business nous included with their football experience.

My mate got a member's email with some pretty good gossip in this area.
I wonder what the future holds.

Some footy smarts in a senior position would be nice … and no I’m not suggesting we bring back the plumber or Ray or Brett but I reckon we lack genuine rugby league know how.

Well he has a plan.
Whether it eventuates is another matter because the likelihood of each step actually succeeding is very limited.

When the same people were trying to block some of the changes Max was trying to introduce to the consitution, they had just over 25% of voters at the meetings, so enough to block the change. Once postal voting was introduced, that number dropped to approx 10% and the motions Max wanted got passed.

So a couple of hundred people that want the change might not be enough for even step 1, IF sufficient numbers turn up at the EGM and/or postal voting is allowed at the EGM (I do not know whether it is or not).

I also think the likelihood of our current professional PNRL board of bankers and accountants suddenly agreeing to take us back to the dark old days where a $20M+ business was run by ex-footballers and dodgy business people is very, very low, so I don't believe step 4 will ever happen if it got that far.
It won't happen no one outside of the muppets Spags is paying want him near the joint.

Spags go f**k yourself and get life you halfwit.

You destroyed us once it your not fooling us again twice.

Might start with the yoda story then move to the “Wayne Bennett, pit of vipers story” add in we are acting like the pit of vipers

then move to speaking about not having a voice because of successive f**k up and waiting 4 years for control of the club and a vote

If this is happening, I'll make sure I'm there so I can, 'hear, hear'.

MIght add in, that I go to Junior Reps and most senior games, I don't see or hear of those mentioned as supporting his motion at any level of football.

Maybe it's because most of them live on the Gold Coast or that most people only care about first grade.

In 2014 as the Spagnollo era was coming to an end, I got a call from former Eels Trainer Hayden Knowles.
H and I spoke often and had kept in touch since he left the club. Our friendship culminated for me in my multiple appearances on "ParraTV" the Eels subscription video service, a forerunning of the modern club websites, with on demand and behind the scenes looks at the club. It was Hayden's brainchild for ParraTV. Hayden had been working at Newcastle for the last 2 years under Wayne Bennett.

H said he once asked if Wayne would consider coming to Parramatta and Wayne response was, "No Way it's a Vipers Nest"

When asked to expand on that, I was told that the infighting and constant bitching in the Paper made the Eels a less than desirable destination. Now if that is actually Wayne or H's interpretation, I am not sure.

On the way to Campbelltown for the last game of the year this year, I was listening to SEN radio. Former Eels Captain Tim Mannah was talking about his experiences in getting the spoon in 2018, but he also spoke about the issues he had as captain and that anytime there was a problem at the club, a certain journo would make a phone call to two former Eels, who are indeed human headlines.

For the good of the club, next time Bulldog calls you Ray or Brett, pick up say "Sorry mate I have no comment" and hang up. STOP THIS SNIPING and BACKSTABGBING stop acting like this club is a pit of vipers.

After two failed administrations, one trying to fix up the issues of another who breached the salary cap more often than it actually made finals series in its tenure. We were put into administration. Max Donnelly was put in charge and the members were taken out of the Driver's seat.

We spent 4 years! 4 YEARS working through the issues and getting the votes to reform the club and take it back as our own. Now we want to throw that all away because of two unfortunate seasons of football.

Don't get me wrong the way the NRL club performed in 2023 and 2024 hurt. As someone who was lucky enough to be granted a lap of honor around the stadium in August for my 100% attendance record, I know how much it hurts. I was here for the entire thing

Most of you know me and know my passion for the club. IT Hurts.

But lashing out and trying to change all the hard work we have put in over the last 10 years is cutting of our nose to spite our face.
