I must be the only one who is glad he is going. Good on Ando, he is definately clearing out the dead wood imo. With Loko, Sio and Atkins, J. Wright is no loss. If those 3 can catch then we are one step ahead

As long as we have Tahu who is constantly broke, he would have plenty of opportunity.

I think when Tahu finds his form, and he starts getting decent ball one-on-one with the opposition outside backs, you will find we will finally have a strike weapon out wide.
Gotta remember, he was hit with a lot of off-field crap that really badly affected him, and it's first year back in a while in Rugby League, and considering he barely played Rugby Union as it was he would have been very down on match-fitness this year.

I think in that four game streak early in the season he was playing great, and he played a good game recently against the Doggies and co.
See how he goes next year, if he realises any of what he is capable of he will be up there for centre/winger of the year.

couldn't agree more. The guy has hands like feet, and never passes to his winger.

have to say I didn't rate the guy last year and would have been happy for him to go anywhere. But after a few games this year, I think he was developing nicely and was going to push strongly for a starting position next year.

Sad to see him go, however he must have been offered a deal to good to refuse or Anderson must think Sio and Loco are closer to NRL starts then we think.

I really couldnt care less that he has gone about time they start getting rid of players even if there juniors players like wright you can build a team around and hasnt got any real qualities that jump out.
Goodluck to the Dogs they are obviously just making there nsw cup have even more first graders lol

I am not shattered he is leaving, but good on him - I can totally understand why he would go. He possilby got more cash and a longer deal, and would be a better chance of getting games at the Dogs with Patten retiring, and no Tahu/Reddy blocking his path to first grade.

As much as Tahu has dissappointed me this season, he will always be in the first team, so Jono made his call. His defence was always suspect for mine, and as has been said, prone to the odd brain explosion.

As for the Dogs - Bred not bought - hahahahaah :sarcasm:

Bred not bought..........um, yeah!

If we lose him and Atkins is his replacement, I will be happy. I thought he was on the cusp of improvement but everytime he played this year, he was a huge worry because he never passed, his defence was suspect and his performance next to Inu against the Dragons was a lowlight. If he thinks he is a better chance at first grade at the Dogs, good luck to him but I don't think he will be a huge loss.

No big deal, don't really rate him and no massive loss. Like it's been stated we have Sio and the likes to fill in anyway.

thank god for that! i understand the whole , he is still inexperienced and is getting to fg still. but the guy has played more than a handful of games already. i am never confident going into a big game with him on the wing. sure sometimes he comes out and has a decent game with a few good touches. but there is a lot more of those games when he has shockers... i thought he was contracted to the end of next year . did we release him early ?

Would have been a handy player to still have around to plug any backline injury gaps. Wasn't fantastic, but was developing ok.

I think anyone in U20s is a few years from first grade, that side was a rabble this year (especially in defence).

I guess it gives Humble more first grade opportunity as first choice backline utility...?

What annoys me is that Humble or even Sio could've been given that first grade game time instead of Wright this year, now we've as good as thrown it all away.

What a great way to repay some good faith shown, dissapointing even if he was an average player.

Thats right. "We" as Parra has thrown it away, not him as a player. He took his chances steppin up into First Grade probably thinking the same as we all did, that the club was blooding him.. Cant blame him for that.

How much money to the Dogs have under the cap?

Amazing recruitment they seem to have. While, once again, we seem to have purchased nobody of note.

Poore is the only REAL big dollars we have spent on buying in a player for years.

WTF is the deal? Doesnt anyone want to play for Parra? I keep hearing players say, how good our club is etc etc (for over 20 years now) and yet, we never seem to buy anyone. (Except for Dymock, Pay & Smith) all of those years ago (and then we get accused of buying the comp!)

When are we ever going to buy anyone????

We have Hayne, Hindmarsh, Poore, Tahu.

We overpaid for Mortimer. But it won't be fatal.

We now have cap space because Feleti, Inu, Cayless and KK have left.

We have bought players over the years in 2004 we bought Morison, Stringer, Riddell, Tahu, PJ Marsh and Chad Robinson for 2005.

In 2000 we bought Jason Taylor, Beuttner, Drew, Solomona. The year prior to that we bought Moodie and Hodgson etc. That added to the crop coming though at the time lead to an awesome 2001.

We wasted 270K pa on Dykes. Almost everybody we bought in 2003 was a waste of money which lead to a dud 2004. We probably kept a few players we should have cut over the years and let a few go that we should've kept. But its not a perfect science.

But we do buy players.

I would have been happy to keep him for the same role he played this year. He was an OK back up player.

I understand that Jono just wanted a change and it was not for the money.

One of my biggest issues wioth DA, is the time he took to give players a chance, Humble in for a few weeks and then not seen again. Mitchell not even seen until the end of the season then back to NSW Cup. There was a reluctance it seems to go outside the top 25, tried and trusted, when you look at the Roosters this year that is where they benefitted. That was a major disappointment, would even Horo have got a look in this year, guess Jono is maybe thinking he needs a change.

Of the players that you have mentioned - who would you consider as marquee players, that were not either, at the end of their career or injury prone?

Over the years, other than Lindner, then the 3 boys from the Dogs, and maybe, MAYBE, Poore last year, who can be considered BIG signings out of the others named?

I cant remember too many representative players ever being purchased.

Im not blaming the club, because I do not know the reasons - however, it does seem that certain other clubs, never seem to have an issue with signing BIG names.
It just seems that, whenevr there were any names mentioned as being on the market this year - the Dogs, Roosters, Titans (and to some extent Canberra)(Delmege must have run out of dough - not much happening at Moanly this year) are always mentioned as being in the market.

Sorry - just frustrated. 2 years ago, we were told that we were building for 2010. 2009, Hayne performs some freak shows, and we just miss. Therefore, many of us expect 2010, to be better than 2009, because we were told 2010 would be our year. Now what? When? Who do we have? The team is a one man band. What are we doing wrong, that players dont want to come and play for us?

If KK wasnt wanted - how about having someone else lined up before letting him go? Its bullsh*t.

Other than the Cowboys, nobody else underperformed as much as we did this year.
Having a top 8 does not reflect how bad teams are. For us to be a chance of making the playoffs, even with 2 weeks to go, was ridiculous - we didnt deserve to be.

Seriously, I still havent found the cat from the Tigers game yet, and have only just had the floor repaired. This is starting to impact my life, which I never expected 26 years ago. 1/4 of a century!!!](*,)

Gotta go........ here puss, puss,puss.
