Of the players that you have mentioned - who would you consider as marquee players, that were not either, at the end of their career or injury prone?

Over the years, other than Lindner, then the 3 boys from the Dogs, and maybe, MAYBE, Poore last year, who can be considered BIG signings out of the others named?

I cant remember too many representative players ever being purchased.

Im not blaming the club, because I do not know the reasons - however, it does seem that certain other clubs, never seem to have an issue with signing BIG names.
It just seems that, whenevr there were any names mentioned as being on the market this year - the Dogs, Roosters, Titans (and to some extent Canberra)(Delmege must have run out of dough - not much happening at Moanly this year) are always mentioned as being in the market.

Sorry - just frustrated. 2 years ago, we were told that we were building for 2010. 2009, Hayne performs some freak shows, and we just miss. Therefore, many of us expect 2010, to be better than 2009, because we were told 2010 would be our year. Now what? When? Who do we have? The team is a one man band. What are we doing wrong, that players dont want to come and play for us?

If KK wasnt wanted - how about having someone else lined up before letting him go? Its bullsh*t.

Other than the Cowboys, nobody else underperformed as much as we did this year.
Having a top 8 does not reflect how bad teams are. For us to be a chance of making the playoffs, even with 2 weeks to go, was ridiculous - we didnt deserve to be.

Seriously, I still havent found the cat from the Tigers game yet, and have only just had the floor repaired. This is starting to impact my life, which I never expected 26 years ago. 1/4 of a century!!!](*,)

Gotta go........ here puss, puss,puss.

I see where you're coming from mate. I think the 1999-2000 buys were very shrewd buys by Brian Smith, which probably won't be repeated.

In 2004 the marquee signings were Morison, Tahu and Riddell. Marsh and Stringer were gambles because of serious injuries. Tahu and Morison had been injured in 2004 but were always going to recover.

In 2001 Dykes was the marquee signing. He'd never really been injured before. He was then injured almost all the time from 2002-2004. Then he was magically un-injured when he went to Cronulla. .... I know its ben 5 years but I reckon Dykes should repay every cent.

2010 probably would have been our year if we'd bought a halfback. At the end of the day thats probably it.

It doesnt hurt that he's leaving, it hurts that its to the Bulldogs of all teams. I cant bear watching any ex parra player play for that grubby team.

That's no way to speak to the Mrs!!

Suity

Nah, I found her cowering in the corner of the bed, with her ski earmuffs on, the same night. Poor thing. (Apparently when we lose a game, I must go through the game play by play in my sleep, including the kicks!)

As for the cat - its probably with a fairweather Roosters supporter somewhere in the suburb. Amazing how they come out of the woodwork, when there team is winning. People think we are bad, The Rooster supporters of the eastern suburbs are the experts (especially once they have put their swans & randwick jersey's back into the cupboard - and the Randwick jersey may as well be there already).

How much money to the Dogs have under the cap?

Amazing recruitment they seem to have. While, once again, we seem to have purchased nobody of note.

Poore is the only REAL big dollars we have spent on buying in a player for years.

WTF is the deal? Doesnt anyone want to play for Parra? I keep hearing players say, how good our club is etc etc (for over 20 years now) and yet, we never seem to buy anyone. (Except for Dymock, Pay & Smith) all of those years ago (and then we get accused of buying the comp!)

When are we ever going to buy anyone????

Mate the reason is because we are the primary club that other clubs poach players from...that is why; Parramatta produces a huge excess of talent of which they can't keep all of them, why we can't keep players like Gardner, Gallen, T-Rex, etc.
We don't need to buy marquee players half the time because we generally have the best depth of all the teams, simply because we have so many players in our local competitions.

Buying big-name players would be nice I suppose, but if I had a choice between, for example, buying Blake Ferguson or keeping Luke Burt, I would keep Luke Burt every time.

Well, that's the problem.
Instead of getting Sio, Loko and Humble a go, we give it all to a talentless hack called Wright and then he leaves. Seriously? It's really annoying to know that all that preparing has just gone to waste. I'd have loved to see either one of those 3 ahead of Wright for this year and for us to keep them after solid games.

I will say once again.. He had no choice but to leave. He thought his future was here too! You wanna look at someone, look at Ozzie.

I honestly think the Dogs will still struggle to make the 8 next year. Even if they get Eastwood, their front row is still suspect, they have inexperienced halves (who's to say Hodkinson won't get 2nd year syndrome?), and have bought Wright. I don't think they will strike that much fear into other sides.

I'm also criticizing our recruitment as well. Why are we blooding wenty players just to see them go to other clubs.

I generally thought that blokes getting blooded into first grade will at the very least stick with their respective club for at least a year or 2.

Well, here's to Sio getting a good go next year.

They brought themselves a death trap when they got KK. If he gets the 5/8 gig over Roberts or Roberts gets injured, they'll end up as wooden spooners.

I guess that is the life of a Wenty player. In the eyes of the powers that be, and many of the fans, they will always be second string players. You have less of a chance of keeping them than a first grader. They will always have a more established player in front of them. So even though a coach may blood you, you are still sitting back waiting on an injury, or a Tahu brain explosion equalling suspension!

Exactly, he wasn't that good and there was no harm in trying out Sio. I'm not whinging that he's gone and that we'll regret it, i'm whinging over the fact that he was our chosen Wenty player to play more first grade than other blokes and we let him go. What's the point then?

We might as well scrap our junior squads if it's always going to be like this.

Um - where to start with that?

Surely if you have a look at a junior, and determine that they're not really up to scratch, then you let them go if they get an offer elsewhere?

Yes, we've given Wright 12 games in the top grade over the last 2 seasons. That's a good enough chance to have a look at a guy - and it's fairly evident that Wright isn't our best option as a 3rd string center.

It's about optimizing players and rosters. I'm pretty sure we all knew Wright had little to no potential over the likes of Sio and Loko, so what was our club doing wasting a year and a quarter on the likes of Wright as our back-up? Surely, as a club, the staff and coach aren't so stupid as to know what's potential and what isn't? Fair enough we let him go because he's crap, but why did it take that long to realise he was. I value efficiency, therefore, from my perspective, we should have seen from Wrights few performances late last year that he wasn't enough and thrown in another bloke and see how he went.

I hear that Loko and Sio and being brought in early to build them up for next season, culd be a move as they search for more speed in the backline.
