Of the players that you have mentioned - who would you consider as marquee players, that were not either, at the end of their career or injury prone?
Over the years, other than Lindner, then the 3 boys from the Dogs, and maybe, MAYBE, Poore last year, who can be considered BIG signings out of the others named?
I cant remember too many representative players ever being purchased.
Im not blaming the club, because I do not know the reasons - however, it does seem that certain other clubs, never seem to have an issue with signing BIG names.
It just seems that, whenevr there were any names mentioned as being on the market this year - the Dogs, Roosters, Titans (and to some extent Canberra)(Delmege must have run out of dough - not much happening at Moanly this year) are always mentioned as being in the market.
Sorry - just frustrated. 2 years ago, we were told that we were building for 2010. 2009, Hayne performs some freak shows, and we just miss. Therefore, many of us expect 2010, to be better than 2009, because we were told 2010 would be our year. Now what? When? Who do we have? The team is a one man band. What are we doing wrong, that players dont want to come and play for us?
If KK wasnt wanted - how about having someone else lined up before letting him go? Its bullsh*t.
Other than the Cowboys, nobody else underperformed as much as we did this year.
Having a top 8 does not reflect how bad teams are. For us to be a chance of making the playoffs, even with 2 weeks to go, was ridiculous - we didnt deserve to be.
Seriously, I still havent found the cat from the Tigers game yet, and have only just had the floor repaired. This is starting to impact my life, which I never expected 26 years ago. 1/4 of a century!!!](*,)
Gotta go........ here puss, puss,puss.
I see where you're coming from mate. I think the 1999-2000 buys were very shrewd buys by Brian Smith, which probably won't be repeated.
In 2004 the marquee signings were Morison, Tahu and Riddell. Marsh and Stringer were gambles because of serious injuries. Tahu and Morison had been injured in 2004 but were always going to recover.
In 2001 Dykes was the marquee signing. He'd never really been injured before. He was then injured almost all the time from 2002-2004. Then he was magically un-injured when he went to Cronulla. .... I know its ben 5 years but I reckon Dykes should repay every cent.
2010 probably would have been our year if we'd bought a halfback. At the end of the day thats probably it.
