left field , JONUS PEARSON TO FULLBACK ............IF DUFTY LEAVES
I have no doubt that Widdop is the best fullback at our club but he is also the best 5/8 so he stays there . If Dufty leaves we will need to find a fullback and the left field idea of Pearson isn't the worst idea I have seen on here .
Pearson is very fast , good under the high ball , brings the ball back strongly , defends well and he can pass a ball . He is very aggressive both in attack and defence .I have no doubt every winger would like to play fullback .
The negatives are that would require a coaching staff with vision and ability ...Ours has neither . And it would be a major step from a reserve grade winger to a first grade fullback . But if we don't sign a fullback its not the worst idea .

Or we could put de Belin at fullback, hear somewhere he played there in under 6's.

Sorry just kidding, after Mary tried him at half and Dufty leaves, he may just go for this option.

The skill set for winger and full back these days is not all that dissimilar so I agree with you that he bears consideration at the very least. I'll take your word about his defence but it wouldn't have to be brilliant to be better than Dufty's. The bits I've seen of him on Youtube and elsewhere suggest that he is taller and a stronger build than Dufty which helps with managing the bombs, defence and not being rag dolled into touch (as Dufty often is).

Well I guess Slater and Boyd started as wingers so it may be possible . He is a touch over 6ft and would play at around 100kgs or a fly shit under . His big assets are his speed and he has a real touch of mongrel about how he plays... The opposite of Nene . He go's hard at anything he does weather it's bringing the ball back or competing in the air . And a genuine try scorer
I was told he wasn't a Bennett love child like Boyd is and should have played a lot more first grade . He will have a point to prove so lets hope it works out .

I live in hope that he can make first grade and with him and Jordan P we will decent wingers. Throw in Lomax at center with Lafai and we are looking to having a decent set of backs.
My biggest concern is will he play Lomax , he deserves his chance , came into the team in pressure games and past the test for me .....

I think Mary finds it really hard to break away from his Cadbury Favourite’s.
Let’s hope Lomax is an exception to the rule and is not left dwindling in the shadows behind Mary’s cut and paste side. I agree 100% hazz, Lomax done enough to retain his spot. It’s up to Aitken to figh his way back.

Lomax is in the team now and it is up to whoever it may be to replace him on form.
Hopefully our brain dead coach can see this and act accordingly, but nothing would surprise me with Mary.

Millward should not have extended Aitken and Lafai for so long. A two year deal was more appropriate as both of these players displayed poor form leading up to their extensions.

Now, we've committed salary cap to these two players long term and find that their selection in first grade may not be in the best interest of the team. A two year deal with an option in favour of the Club would at least keep them hungry.

I actually think Mary likes Lomax so it will be interesting to see what happens. 2019 kickoff is a long way away but I tend to think he'll play Lomax on the wing with Aitken and Lafai as the centres.

Why on earth would he play him on the wing
