FOX HUNT ALMOST OVER

The Eels are expected to secure the signature of Josh Addo-Carr “imminently” with the axed Bulldogs star set to sign a short deal.

Addo-Carr was sacked by Canterbury earlier this month after he returned two positive results to cocaine following a roadside drug test in September.

The incident occurred a week out from the club’s first finals appearance in eight years, with Addo-Carr standing himself down as police waited on his test results.

Parramatta’s new coach Jason Ryles has pounced and is expected to sign the former Kangaroos and Blues speedster.

“We’re getting very, very close to a decision with Josh Addo-Carr, Parramatta are in the box seat, they’re the clear favourites to land Josh Addo-Carr,” Brent Read said on Triple M.

“I think we’re only days away from a decision. I imagine he’ll be an Eels fan next year so it’s a really handy signing for Jason Ryles. He wanted speed and he’s got plenty of speed in Josh Addo-Carr.

“I think it’s imminent and I expect a decision one way or the other pretty soon.

“I don’t think it’ll be a long-term deal, just because Josh has been through a bit lately, I suspect he’s going to have to take a bit less money, a haircut on what he was on at the Bulldogs.

“It’s probably in both parties interest not to do a long-term deal because obviously Parramatta are taking a punt on Josh and Josh has got the potential to show what he can do and earn a more lucrative deal down the track.

“I think it will be one or two years and I expect it will happen soon, but it’s not over the line yet.”

We let Gutherson go, then sign Lomax and the fox for the same coin. That's a win for the eel I'd say, although Gutherson will be a great leader for you guys.
Gutherson was always the best trainer at Parramatta. Nobody beat him in the time trials over longer distances, nobody got close in the 10 seasons he was there. Never had anyone gotten close.
Dylan brown was always second, but nobody touched Gutherson. That's why fullback is his best position. He never stops.

Fair call, however we lost only Lomax.
Let's see how the season pans out , but I think Gutho will mean more to us than Lomax to the Eels.
Not just on the field.

You have always been a respectful and measured outside poster on here.
Kudos.

I am quite content with Nathan Lawson in lieu of JAC , yes
it’s a shame that we could not secure both players however in saying that , I believe that Lawson will be a bit of a surprise in the 13 a side game - plus it gives Flanagan that bit more extra cash to play with .
My Union mates have been yammering that 7s players would be great pickups for NRL. The Storm guy just underlined that I guess.

If true I’m fine with him going to Parra. He is literally walking a tightrope with the nrl. No thanks, has issues and clearly is full of shit and still playing the I’m innocent card. No loss at all. Finau is the way more logical choice moving forward. Young, no baggage, keen as mustard
He won't even be allowed to play the first four matches next year.

Can see Dylan Brown being over here with him in 2026.

Without doubt, JAC is ability wise in our starting 13 in 2025 is he was signed with us. The Fox still is top shelf. That said, he is already in decline as a player, and comes with bagage we don’t need. We have guys who can play winger, and we have some guys who are in the up and may be great in just a year or two (Finau and Nigella in particular). They won’t get chances and will move on if we block them. With the experience of holmes, Suli, Gutho in the backs, we can afford to test out some wingers in 2025.
