could this thread go for another 11 pages..........

I see no reason why it shouldn't... especially since it seems that he is actually to be an Eel now! 8)

i can imagine that Smith will be trailing alot of young centres and wingers during the trails. I'd like to see Anderson also given a shot at the centre position.

In the trails i'd love to see Marsh and Smith each play a half of football in the halfback position. Just like Taylor and PJ did in the 2001 pre season.

I think that most of you are only interested in an attacking centre.

My preferred centre option would most likely be Luke Odwyer and Deano!!

Both hit holes well and both defend extremely tight!!

O'Dwyer is an option but IMO probably if injuries occur. Than again he could also be an option for the 14 jersey. Widders is at his best coming off the bench after 15-20 and hitting the hole. I think he is wasted over a full 80. He is a great defender but his attack off the bench is second to none.

Widders at centre is not the best option I've ever heard. The reason I have Ben Smith above the rest is because I think he defends well.

The best backline out of the available players in my opinion would be:

1. Wade McKinnon
2. Luke Burt
3. Ben Smith
4. Luke O'Dwyer
5. Eric Grothe (if he ever plays again  )

6. John Morris
7. PJ

need to pick a team and stick with it though. All need to play 80 minutes or close to it. The other option is to start Sideshow for Burt then play Burt like Cooper Cronk for Melbourne as a bench hooker that comes on and makes darting dummy half runs.

Small question. Where does Tahu fit into all of this? Forgetting about the money we paid to get him here for a sec, outside of McKinnon, if fit, I'd play him ahead of anyone else from 2 through to 5

And what a waste that was!

We bought badly in the backs this year.

I dont think so. I do thing that we are relying heavily on youth in the backs. But how good does this look:
1 Mckinnon
2 Peterson
3 Heaps of candidates.
4 Tahu
5 Grothe

Not very appealing. Never thought Tahu should have been a rep player. And in the centres?

The selctors obviously thought so. He came to Parra to play in the centres so I can't see why they won't be playing him there.

considering he was the best back on the market and we scored him.

paradaze would have to be the only bloke west of the bridge that's disappointed about signing him. :?

Iam happy if he stays on the field. Although he hasnt had the best run with injuries in the last couple of years. I would prefer him on the wing but he came here to play centre and he could suprise a few ppl in doing so.

If you look through the history of the posts Parradaze has something against Tahu.

Could've signed him for $2.50 a season and PD wouldn't be happy.

He is still a quality player and played a part in why we havent won a premiership for such a long time.
