If you look through the history of the posts Parradaze has something against Tahu.

Could've signed him for $2.50 a season and PD wouldn't be happy.

$2.50 what a waste of money. OMG is that how much money we wasted on him. :D

Maybe no one pays much attention to me but yes I don't rate him and especially as a centre.

He hasn't played a game there yet and he is our best centre, doesn't anybody find this strange.

And he might have been the best winger on the market but that doesn't make him the best option for us.

We will see but all I'm saying is don't hold your breath.

PD!! if you ask Knights fans about him there wouldn't be any arguments about his defence however he's played several games at centre for Newcastle, infact he may of even played his first grade debut there.

If we had signed Lockyer I would have no hesitation in saying that he would be our best 5/8 without him playing a game for us.

Bias my dear boy. Ever study Modern History? If you did it's the first thing you learn how to detect.

If I asked a fan about any of their favourite players they would exaggerate at least a little.

Let me just clarify. I'm not attacking the bloke and I hope he goes well but he is not going to set the game alight as a centre.

And one of those games was against us in our stellar year of 2001 at Newcastle and he carved us up playing centre.

Different kettle of fish. Lockyer is a classy player and a well established Test player. Surely, your not putting Tahu in the same class as Lockyer.

I'm not putting them in the same class but I am making an example that Tahu is good enough to have represented his country as well and in our current batch of 3/4's he will be coming in at numero uno (a slight edge over Eric).

Our "go to" man, if you will, in the 3/4's

I agree that none of our current 3/4's at the club apart from Tahu have been test players.

I'm just so used to quick fix solutions at Parramatta that I'm waiting for Tahu to fail.

But even if Tahu fires we will still be weaker in the backs than the top clubs.

I wouldn't say weaker. Inexperienced - most definitely. I think there are some young players who are as good as if not better than players who were on the Kangaroo tour talent wise. Its just whether or not that talent is realised....

Only if your Mark Riddell in disguise.

Onto the backline topic.....

How experienced was this backline at the start of 2004

1 Patten
2 El Masri
3 Harris
4 Tonga
5 Lolesi

Because your credibility is zero

you claim that Tahu hasn't played centre he has over the course of his career (ie including lower grades) played a lot in the centres.

Harsh!

I'll admit I have never seen him play centre. But I think that even most Newcastle supporters would say wing is his best position. And that he would only play centre in a pinch.

I also claimed that Wade McKinnon should play first grade and the whole forum laughed at me.

I also said that Minichiello would play for Australia and I was blasted for that.

So don't criticise my talent spotting ability. I've been around for a while and I know what I'm talking about. (I'm not as quick to condem players like Phillips).

Well I had Ben Smith and Luke O'Dwyer as my preferred centres but no-one seems to agree.

To be honest IMO

2. Grothe
3. Ben Smith
4. Luke O'Dwyer
5. Tahu

wouldn't actually be a bad backline. In attack we have one of the best wingers in Tahu and potentially his equal in Grothe - both on form would be better than Petersen and Burt. Defensively it would be a lot more sound then

2. Grothe
3. Burt
4. Tahu
5. Petersen

However its more likely that the second backline will be used by Smith, though Delaney, from some reports, could be considered at centre instead of Burt.

IMO we have 2 fringe SOO backs in Mckinnon and Grothe and then we have an OZ winger POTENTIALLY playing centre. Our backline won't be the problem in 2005.

Again we will heavilly rely on the success of our halves!!

It really isn't rocket science!!!
