One report I read said he had offers come in from both the c**ks and the Rapists (Bulldogs)... Could just be more media smoke but would be nice to see an investigation happen if that was the case...

Anyway now all we need is for the independant commision to take over and give greater salary cap exceptions for clubs who develop juniors (lol at c**ks).

You bunch of whinging morons. I'm so glad you got him locked down for longer while his manager used the media and our club to get him more of your cap space. The pathtetc thing is your sad little team doesn't even realize that that's all it was. Good riddance to the trashy rumours, now you can have a gun player and STILL fail.

I'd welcome it...especially if they fixed the boundaries to make them fair

Canberra Raiders to secure Josh Dugan through salary cap increase

July 12, 2010 Canberra Raiders chief executive Don Furner says Melbourne Storm's NRL salary cap rort has inadvertently allowed Josh Dugan to re-sign.

Changes made to the cap as a result of the Storm's cheating enabled the Raiders to trump several rival offers, and a Raiders spokesman confirmed the 20-year-old fullback would extend his contract by another year.

Dugan's current deal with the club expires at the end of 2011, but he'll now stay in the nation's capital until the end of the 2012 season.

Dugan will hold a press conference to formally announce his decision Monday afternoon.

Sydney Roosters had been tipped to snare the signature of one of the game's hottest talents, but recent increases to marquee player allowances helped Canberra lay a crucial foundation for their future by tying Dugan up until the end of 2012.

"Believe it or not I had a fair idea that he wanted to stay but obviously the money had to be right too," Furner said.

"And thanks to him holding out and then the salary cap scandal and the changes to the marquee players has worked in his favour.

"He backed himself, he played City Country, was man of the match, so I'm watching that worrying. But we all knew how good he was and he's got a long way to go.

"That's what the changes should be for I believe. If you can't retain kids you've put a lot of time into, it breaks your heart. It just took a bit of time dotting the Is and crossing the Ts.

"We just had to get all the terminology right. Everybody's obviously watching the wording of things to make sure it's declared properly so we did all that.

"Thankfully he indicated he was keen to talk again and we could use this marquee money."

Dugan originally stated he would wait until the end of the season to settle on his future, but said he pushed the decision forward because of the pressure he was beginning to feel as one of the team's star players.

A desire to win a premiership with his mates was the clincher in rejecting other lucrative offers and his announcement came at the perfect time for the Raiders - on the back of defeating Manly 24-22 in a potentially season-turning performance on Saturday.

"Obviously growing up in Canberra my family is there all my friends are there and we've got a good bunch of players coming through," Dugan said.

"We won a comp in the 20s two years ago and with those players coming through I think we can do it again. So we've just got to stick together and keep going forward."

Losing Dugan would have been a crushing blow for the Raiders as they attempt to mould their young side into contenders.

His signature will be key to the club's pursuit of players in the open market, with the team reportedly keen on signing an experienced halfback.

"I went to school with his dad and all of his uncles, he's been one of our juniors for a long time and it would've really hurt us to lose him," Furner said.

"We're looking at a few people, we obviously have a priority sheet to get that one down is good and there's a couple of others we're looking at."

Good to see something good come out of the Storm cheating the cap.

Honestly do you think we really care what you think enough that you can't post it from your main?

And get on the ground and kiss our f**king feet you Bondi beach f**k wit... Minus Carney the only thing your team would have a chance of winning this year is yet another piece of wooden cuttlery...

Sorry I didn't realize not posting like a maniac was a crime? If I had another account I'm sure you could report me and get someone to match and IP address or some sh*t.

You don't have to be a member of a forum for years and years to have a strong disliking for other clubs, read a thread where you little greenbots are posting a bunch of rubbish and feel the need to respond.

Carney is a key ingredient to Easts right now but one person can't win you game after game. I won't be kissing your anything you foul mouthed grub but I have decided not to come and have a look in this section again. You're a deluded bunch, I feel sorry for the few fans you have that may be gentleman drowned out by your awful dribble.
