I'm sure Jaxon Paulo would of contributed more to our club than Lumelume did..I hope that answers your question.

the more I think about it, the more I strongly believe ( as wild and weird as it is ) that we have capped the amount of money we pay our outside backs and this is where we coming unstuck.

I doubt that.
If that was the case then why would Penisini have re-signed? I’m sure he could have gotten offers elsewhere if he thought Parra weren’t paying enough.

I'd say there would of been special dispensation for Will who is a talented local junior with a sibling still at the club on the rise and Sivo's retention would of been due to his efforts in the first 2 years he was at the club.

it would of made sense to look after them both.

So they haven’t put a cap on outside backs then.
That good to know.

if they did they would of lost them both I'm sure.

most clubs carry 6 to 8 outside backs with NRL quality, we've currently got 4 at an absolute stretch...the roosters played a second string 2 to 4s in a final and came within a bees dick of winning it.

I don’t disagree that we need to have more quality in the outside backs.
I’m just not sure I’m in agreement as to why we aren’t getting any.

If we made exceptions for Penisini and Sivo to keep them at the club, why would they not do the same to bring in a quality player from outside? I’d say the reason we can’t get these players isn’t because we don’t want to pay a bit more, but more likely we can’t pay a bit more because all our money is tied up elsewhere. Which in itself is poor planning, but of a completely different type.

I wouldn't be surprised if we split the cap into spine/backs/forwards with probably a 45/20/35 ratio on the dollars and a 20/30/50 split on roster positions.

There is also the thought we have a cap on purchasing from outside the club? Priorities players already at the club the R&R team see as long term players.

If that means they are looking to the future to keep the club strong then I’m ok with it.
It can’t always be about the here and now.

We all understand that. But there is a big hole in the backs at the moment. Filling it with average backup players (more than 2) in not what is needed to be consistent.

Like I will go on about until my head explodes if we are going to chase a backup player you need someone that is going to buy into what the whole club is doing. not someone who is using the club for $$$ and as a last resort. (those players are what we had in our back to back spoon years).

BTW we can leave this chat to the Rumors thread seems like similar convo is going on over there..

Hmm. But we've lost Waqa who wouldn't of been cheap. I can't see Simmo or Russel costing more then 450k between them. Penisni I'd guess about 350k and Sivo 400k. Maybe 450k for Sivo. Maybe 400k for will. Its a cheap backline

We just need to hope Russel and Penisni have break out years. If they do Simmonson and Sivo are good enough. I don't see those two improving. There at their peak.

I still think Sandow was a good signing all things considered. We had to roll the dice. He played behind a terrible pack. He didn't work out. But we where desperate and had to try something.

Simmonson has not had a proper preseason with us yet last year should injured year before he came onboard late.

Give him a good offseason at centre he may be good if not good luck in the ESL. Same with Sivo next year is make or break
