I think McInnes would be missed more if middle ruck defense was without him.

McInnes needs to make a big effort to reduce the number of penalties he gives away during a game. I have no doubt that Robson will be the run on hooker in the near future with McInnes being the 14 off the bench.

Also McInnes is not suitable for the Captain's role. He does not lead and is not a good decision maker often choosing the wrong option at dummy half.

Agree and they always seem to be penalties on tackles 4&5

McInness penalties are almost always due to the fact the opposition have got a roll on and he is trying to slow it down. Quite often the problem is the markers have not gotten into position quickly enough and if he didn't give away one those terrible penalties there's a strong possibility they could score.

While we're talking about McInness, whats this static floating around about him throwing forward passes and should be dropped because of this. He is rarely pulled up for a forward pass, definitely no more than any other dummy half and if he can give the ball on or over the advantage line to his forwards whats the problem? Watch Cam Smith play he is the most consistent exponent of throwing forward passes from dummy half, does that mean he should be dropped?

Put the opposition player on his back and all will be OK

I watched the game again earlier and there are a few from Robson as well. Buhrer looked to do it a fair amount and Levi threw a couple as well. It's not like McInnes is Robinson Crusoe in this area...

If we did not have McInnes making the tackles I do not know how many busts the opposition would make.
With JDB missing he is now required to do more work.I certainly hope they give him a pay rise as he does the work of 2/3 forwards.
Seriously do not knock him as without him we are a leaky boat.

It amazes me how many people rate a player purely on flashy attack and dont look at the effort areas of the game. Its the hard work that wins games and allows the big plays to happen.

With the NRL apparently going to dismiss their own agreed policy on leaving courts to decide criminal matters and devise a new retrospective policy for JDB; it may be Cam Mc to lock and latest gifted one to hooker. Cam is a very good player with heart and no excuses in his play. Has a degree of speed also. Robson may now get his chance to prove capability ascribed to him here by many on the forum.

Purely a football only comment; JDB loss will be extremely hard to cover.

I like McInnes for his speed when used out of dummy half and toughness but I donrt see him as a lock in the middle which is just used more as a battering ram taking hit ups these days with some cute stuff thrown in as not big enough
What happened to the lock roving around the pack and backs to clean up like it used to be and assisting the forwards in fringe middle area hit ups

I remember a game where our great lock Johnny Raper made 8 tackles in a row. For me he was the greatest cover defender of all time!

Agree. Just because everyone else is doing this is not a reason for the dragons to also have a prop size player at lock, particularly, when McInness or Robson have a stint at lock. Both can defend well against bigger players so no drama there, so take advantage of the size and quick play the ball to not let the opposition to set their defensive line.

With the game getting quicker, these two players need to be in our 17 each week.
