I think Goodes has had many opportunities to bring people together, but he has widened a divide.
The young girl should not have called him an "ape" - but she needed education, yet Goodes labeled her as the "face of racism".
13 year old girl, bullied her publicly.
Heard that one a bit, but I'll ask you the same question I've asked others who used it as a reason, have you actually heard what he said about that incident? People keep banging on about her age, but it's not like 13 was branded on her forehead was it?
Here's a snippet of how Goodes ACTUALLY said when it happened:
“It is not her fault. She is 13, she is still so innocent. I don’t put any blame on her. Unfortunately, it is what she hears, the environment she has grown up in that has made her think it is OK to call people names. I can guarantee you right now she would have no idea how it makes anyone feel by calling them an ape.’’
He further added "the person that needs the most support right now is the little girl.
“People need to get around her. She is 13, she is uneducated. If she wants to pick up the phone and call me I will take that call and I’ll have a conversation with that girl about, you know what, you called me a name and this is how it made me feel.’’
What a terrible man...
As for "dividing the nation" - how exactly? By calling someone out for using a racist term during indigenous round?
Is he dividing the nation more than say Andrew Bolt? The man who wrote articles trying to paint light skinned Aboriginals in their entirety as opportunists and welfare cheats?
