Guys with intent always apologize immediately and show remorse.
He knew immediately he f**ked up and that it was bad. He knew he was going to be sent off and miss a month or so of footy.

It's ridiculous to suggest he would do that intentionally when he clearly knew how bad the repercussions were for it instantly. Though I know there's no way you believe he was trying to break his opponents neck. He'll get 4/5 weeks.
I think 4 or 5 weeks is probably about right, and agree, he knew immediately what he’d done.
Whilst I can’t stand the big chinned merkin, or his ungracious, dickhead mates, I can completely understand what’s happened, and I don’t think he’s a dirty player…. BUT… in the heat of the battle, players lose their senses - I’ve been there myself… I’m a good bloke (usually), but I’ve done some horrendous things on the pitch to try and assert dominance and give my team a lift - at that moment in time, that minuscule moment where you see an opportunity to do something that hurts your opposition, the temptation can be just too much, and you go for it… and within a second afterwards, you regret it…
I think that’s what has happened here - he’s got hold of the attacker in a position of strength/dominance, he’s picked him up, turn him over and absolutely drilled him into the ground - it is entirely by luck rather than control or judgement that it didn’t end up with a horrendous outcome, but none of that crossed his mind in that split second… but that all being said, he needs to sit down for a fair few weeks, if for nothing else but to act as a deterrent - even though it won’t really act as a deterrent, because in real life, players just go with the flow and react on instinct ‘in the moment’.

Carrigan looking at 4 weeks plus based on the MRC decision right?
Could have got 2 weeks if it was a grade 3. They've decided it is worse than a 2-3 week offence. They might also want to know the extent of the injury to Jackson Hastings.

If you use a risk assessment matrix, ie likelihood of injury x consequences, it's probably comparable to the Cleary tackle.

I’d argue the carrigan tackle is the worst tackle of the year, also just been reported Hastings is out for 3 months

There's been worse tackles but it's a tackle that needs to be rubbed out and Carrigan has to take his medicine. 4-6 weeks sounds about right, Fuimaono copped 5 for his effort on Dunster so that would be fair. Hopefully Hastings can bounce back from it, the move to 13 has really made the Tigers a far more potent side.

Cleary early plea, 5 weeks

There’s absolutely no consistency whatsoever with the League Judiciary. I didn’t think Nat’s dangerous throw was as bad as Karl Lawton’s or Brent Naden’s earlier in the season, they were grade 3’s as well, how come Nat cops five weeks while they only copped 4 weeks on the sidelines?

Cleary's record added to the loading.

All three were charged with the same punishment.

Cleary had a prior offence - Grade 1 Dangerous Contact for a hip-drop tackle in Round 6.

As it was his second offence, he moves up to the next schedule of penalties in the Grade 3 Dangerous Throw table.

1st offence2nd offence3rd & subsequent
Dangerous Throw1$1500 ($1000)2 matches ($2500)3 matches (2)
23 matches (2)4 matches (3)5 matches (4)
35 matches (4)6 matches (5)7 matches (6)

I can stand him and his d!ckhead mates, but apart from that I agree with this 100%. I was split between the 3 and 5 week suspensions, so can’t argue with it being the higher one. Don’t think Nathan is dirty but it is a horrible tackle and deserves some time on the sideline.

He broke Jackson Hastings’ fibula mate. He’ll be lucky to play again this season.
