Guys with intent always apologize immediately and show remorse.
Whilst I can’t stand the big chinned merkin, or his ungracious, dickhead mates, I can completely understand what’s happened, and I don’t think he’s a dirty player…. BUT… in the heat of the battle, players lose their senses - I’ve been there myself… I’m a good bloke (usually), but I’ve done some horrendous things on the pitch to try and assert dominance and give my team a lift - at that moment in time, that minuscule moment where you see an opportunity to do something that hurts your opposition, the temptation can be just too much, and you go for it… and within a second afterwards, you regret it…
I think that’s what has happened here - he’s got hold of the attacker in a position of strength/dominance, he’s picked him up, turn him over and absolutely drilled him into the ground - it is entirely by luck rather than control or judgement that it didn’t end up with a horrendous outcome, but none of that crossed his mind in that split second… but that all being said, he needs to sit down for a fair few weeks, if for nothing else but to act as a deterrent - even though it won’t really act as a deterrent, because in real life, players just go with the flow and react on instinct ‘in the moment’.
I think 4 or 5 weeks is probably about right, and agree, he knew immediately what he’d done.He knew immediately he f**ked up and that it was bad. He knew he was going to be sent off and miss a month or so of footy.
It's ridiculous to suggest he would do that intentionally when he clearly knew how bad the repercussions were for it instantly. Though I know there's no way you believe he was trying to break his opponents neck. He'll get 4/5 weeks.
