mitchell johnsons seam position when bowling means he will always struggle to swing the ball with any great success and is much less likely to get any movement of the pitch.

junior has been saying it throuought the whole series and seems to be one of the only people willing to come out and say that most of his wickets are rubbish and from loose shots from the batsmen (i.e getting cought down the leg side)

the only consistent success he has seems to be bowling across the right handers for lbws and caught behind. which in my opinoin is not a compelling enough reason to be playing for australia.

we already have an express bowler in lee, we need someone else in there who can put the ball on a length and use the seam

unless he completely changes his bowling action johnson isnt our man

Nup he's rubbish...Mitch
...and since he's now playing for WA, maybe someone like Terry Alderman or even Dennis Lillee might be in a position to help him out with his seam postion & swing.

he was our leading wicket taker, but at an average of over 40 runs per wicket, which really is crap

and it also tells you how bad the rest of our bowlers were, especially Lee, who's average was about 80 I think

sh*tchell picked up the most wickets mainly because he bowls almost twice as many overs as anybody else. He can't swing the ball back into the right hander, and until he does he will remain an ordinary bowler.

I agree. Johnson is a hack. But like Brett Lee reason seems to be put aside and he's apparently entrenched in the side. Australia would be far more threatening with this attack:

Clarke - line and length
Tait - raw pace, agression and reverse swing with the old ball
Hilfenhaus - classic swing bowler
Krejza - needs to be given an extended go now
Watson - improving every game

Tait is less reliable than both Lee and Johnson tbh...If I were dropping Lee I'd pick Bollinger of Noffke in his place, Dougie is a genuine left arm swing bowler who bowls with good pace and Noffke is a very experienced seamer with a very good record.

LOL tait? ... FMD you call mitchell johnson a hack then produce tait who is guarenteed for 2 balls going for 4 byes each down the leg side

hilfenhaus
clark
watson
symonds
noffke

that extends our batting line up without taking anything away from the bowling

MAKE IT HAPPEN

not on current form mate

I saw him play against the Bluebags in a one dayer and he was pretty accurate and pretty lethal

if it was the game in adelaide then i saw it too ... couple of weeks back now

doesn't change the fact he is incredibly inconsistent with his line ...

he was bowling at 160ks as well

I remember watching bowl to the kiwis in a 20/20 a few years back, he was very lethal

a 20/20 a few years back? ... please

he can't control his line and people want to sh*t on johnson for being average and then mention tait? ...

I never meant for that to be a reason to select him, I was just commenting on how good it was seeing it

I'd need to see a bit more of his current form before putting him ahead of a few others.

tait is not the man for the test team ... maybe the one day team where he can have bursts and players swing wildly for quick runs ... but in tests he's too inconsistant with the line and with batsman not having to play at his deliviers most the time he becomes ineffective

I agree with TT, i think Tait is a better bowler with the White ball. But he has been pretty poorly used at test level by Captain Clueless.

Agree with the above on Tait. In test cricket players know they just have to see out Tait's one or two good balls then take him to the cleaners with the others. Until he gets more consistent in FC for SA he shouldn't be in our test side.

Bollinger and Hilfy would be some combo with a left and right arm swing bowling combo and then Clark to keep it tight at 1st change.

On Johnson, he bearly gets any LBW especially against right handers. It's more from them chasing his wide ones. He did alright in India but hes not consistent enough and hardly a threat. Hes not a strike bowler yet he can go for runs so hes not a line and length bowler either.

Bracken.

And on Lee, he was awesome last summer yet he has one poor series after coming back from injury and people want him dumped.

If Hussey has a poor series against the Kiwis let's dump him!!!
