Hard to believe there are still people who want to shift Dugan from fullback...

Its a discussion that will keep happening until our attack clicks into gear.

We're the best defensive team in the comp, and generally we complete our sets ok. We completed 90% of our sets on the weekend, yet our only 2 tries were from broken plays.

Our no name forward pack have played well above themselves this season. Seeing we have $2m invested in our halves/fullback, it seems unfathomable that attack would be our weakness.

I think at most Justin Hunt did enough to say he deserves the left wing spot. Whether or not he keeps it is up to him. But to consider shifting Dugan to accommodate this kid after just one game is ridiculous! Yes he stood out in what was virtually a reserve grade game, but does he actually bring anything to the table that Dugan doesn't already? Does he strengthen that position at all? The answer is no.

Some great kick returns, a nice try saver and a nice line break off a Marshall inside ball - but as someone already pointed out his positional play at times was awful (and let in a try to Linnett off a grubber that he should have covered easily).

I would be astounded if he isn't selected on that left wing this week.

Mary basically said he would be Eto looks like he has run out of time and with no Farrell or Glymin he should be picked.

Eto looks like tarzan but plays like Jane.
The guy is big and strong but has NFI what to do on the field
Eto should be sack completely or sent to the cutters until he learns the game.

Good news, Hunt retained in the 17 on the wing! If he plays well no chance of the other plodders taking it back. Praise Jesus

Dragons sprout a new wing with Hunt

By Paul Haigh

July 10, 2015, 6 a.m.

ST GEORGE Illawarra's Justin Hunt lives at Cronulla and on Sunday lines up in his first derby against the Sharks at Remondis Stadium.
Hunt is surrounded by passionate Sharks fans in the heart of the shire.
But the journeyman has this year been given an opportunity by Dragons coach Paul McGregor.
Hunt has been selected on the wing against the Sharks for Sunday.
"I am aware how the derby games between the clubs are played with intensity, and this will be my first," Hunt said.
The 26-year-old made his NRL debut for the Dragons at fullback on Saturday night in the 18-12 loss to North Queensland Cowboys in Wollongong.
Hunt had been in top form for the Illawarra Cutters in the NSW Cup this season at fullback.
He replaced Dragons incumbent No.1 Josh Dugan, who was selected for NSW in last night's Origin decider.
If Dugan doesn't get through the origin battle unscathed Hunt could revert to fullback. Either way he's in the team.
Hunt said he is happy to be in the NRL squad and wants to be a permanent fixture.
"I have signed with the Dragons for one year with an option for 2016," Hunt told the Leader.

Previously, Hunt's NRL career included just 14 games played at two clubs Souths (2012-13) and Parramatta (2014).
Hunt said he never gave up on his desire to be a consistent NRL player, despite a knee reconstruction and being told by Eels coach Brad Arthur he didn't fit into his plans.
"It's been my dream to play in the NRL," Hunt said.
Hunt remembers his NRL debut in 2012 against the Dragons.
"I scored a try for Souths against the Dragons at Kogarah and we won 19-18, in golden point, Adam Reynolds kicked the field goal," Hunt said.
After being cut adrift by the Eels, Dragons coach Paul McGregor signed Hunt.
"Mary [coach Paul McGregor] has been good to me," Hunt said.
"I feel comfortable here at the Dragons. We're close, I feel like I am at home."

Does that mean he has been given the option of staying another year? I don't get this 1 year with an option business. Who decides to take the option, the club or player.

Depends which way the option favours.
The club's or the players. Usually a time frame/clause stipulating as to when the option can or cannot be activated by (date).

So the club offers a player 80k for the year with an option of paying 80k the following year if they want to keep him on? So that way if the player gets an offer to leave by another club he is not obligated to stay the 2nd year? Is that why they sign these

If the option is in the clubs favour, then the purpose is to 'trial' the player for a year (generally on a cheap contract) and if the player is not worth it, then the club is not obliged to pay the second year. Likewise, if the player plays out of his skin, the club can activate the second year and hold onto the player.

If it is in the plauyers favour - which is rare - then it is usually because the player is signed for unders and he believes he can make an impression and secure a larger contract over the course of that year. If he can, he is not obliged to stay with the club. If he can't then he still has a second year on his contractor to make it happen.

I had been a bit skeptical about Hunt but after his performance last night* in a badly beaten side he has officially turned me around and made me a fan.

*Not including the try he bombed though lol

His defence is woeful, keeps rushing in all the time and that's not the only try he has bombed recently.

I still don't know whether hunt is better than Quinlan. We essentially just swapped with parra, at the time, thought it was pointless. Still do.

I do. Not that it means we should aettle for him as a full time winger.

He would be in my team every day with the players we have at the moment his determination and enthusiasm alone is enough, and he is really not that bad a player......would come in very handy even if we sign another winger.......We need a player like him to fill in when needed..........just look at what happened when we lost Benji.....We got rid of any back up half we had in the club to cover injuries......Obvious that Hutch was not ready to cover the position of Benji , That came from Mary himself........So yea I would hold on to J Hunt......
