Knights fans rationale.

Smith headslams someone.
"He didn't headslam him!"

Snowden knees someone.
"He didn't knee him!"

Newcastle rationale for ya.

It definitely doesn't look good. I actually reckon the fracture must have come from when his knee falls onto Dockers face rather than the initial contact. If Billy Slater don't kick Klemmer then how can this be foul play?

Also, I reckon the charge is reasonable as there has to be some onus on the defending player not to tackle head first into the knees. I think Snowden was bracing and expecting Docker to hit him in the guts. Does anyone really think he maliciously tried to break a face?

I agree with you completely. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but having looked at it again, I'd say 2 weeks sounds about right. Seemed like a defensive, but illegal move from Kade. I don't think it was malicious at all.

Guilty unfortunately.

On a side note, I wonder how long it is going to be until we see a player that is stationary in a tackle lift a knee to prevent injury from a cannonball style tackler flying in?

Definitely not the case with Snowden and not trying to use it as a defence in this case.

Welcome back trollboy2010. If I copped that knee you know what would have happened? I would have thought to myself, damn I was stupid for attempting a head on tackle at such a low position.

Guess your blind and can't see is my guess.

He clearly raised his knee when docker was coming towards him which is not allowed that is the end of the story my friend.

2-3 weeks seems fair for such a offence that will teach him in future games that you can not defend yourself with a knee.

Fair enough decision.

Dangerous contact it was, but surprisingly it was a defensive act not offensive. The lack of intent probably saved him a few weeks on the sideline.

Watching the game on fox, it didn't look to bad. However the replay I saw last night painted a different picture. I can understand the suspension.

No fracture to Docker too - http://www.newcastleknights.com.au/news-display/Snowden-takes-early-plea/80026
Maybe should have been a Grade 1 considering the hit on Rochow was without question and resulted in a post match trip to Hospital.

So the question has to be asked, why was Cleary giving a post-match press conference stating that Docker had a fractured cheekbone? Did it somehow magically mend between Sunday and today?

Despite what they say, the MRC no doubt look at the injuries sustained by a player when they issue a grading on dangerous contact etc. A coach shouldn't be firing their mouth off about things that haven't been confirmed by medical staff, especially when it has the potential to influence a charge's grading.

Imagine if Bennett came out saying that Rochow will be ruled out with a fractured eye socket for 3-4 weeks after copping two high hits across the face.

Good to see that I'm not the only one that thinks this!

Ivan is entitled to say what he likes at a presser and it was likely the info he had at the time

Nothing untoward about it imo

Listen to Wayne's presser.

When asked about injuries he said that someone was off to hospital because of a knock to the head. He didnt speculate on the injury, name the player or the exact incident.

He was also the winning coach who may or may not have been told all that much in regards to Rochows injury.

End of the day its up to the coaches to say what they feel it necessary for the press to hear. Rarely are coaches as reserved as Uncle Wayne and its silly to expect them to be so. Im not sure what advantage Ivan gets by purposely trying to get a player suspended when his team wont meet them again in the near future. Its a pretty long bow to draw imo
