Kade Snowden - what a talent

I went to watch the u16 and u18 trials yesterday (I'll be doing a report for Knightly News), and I have to say Kade Snowden has grown and improved over the off season.
He only played for about 20 minutes, but he set up a try, scored a try, went for a run with the centres (and put a gap in them) and busted up a few forwards.
He has size, strength, speed, skill and vision. He is the whole package and the real deal to use a few cliches.

What role do you see him playing this year Roopy(as in what Teams)? Is it likely we will see him in premier league?

The SG Ball only goes for a short season and I think we can win the damn thing if Kade leads us for the season - and I think it will be a great thing for him to do that as well.
I think he is good enough to play Premier League today - and will be firstgrade standard by the end of the season.

The only way I can describe the quality of his work yesterday is it was like someone had chucked Steve Simpson in against a group of schoolkids - he wasn't just offloading with three tacklers hanging off him - he was delivering perfect cutout passes to guys in gaps.

I'd let him train with the top 25 by the end of the season with an eye to giving him a run on the bench next season for injuries/rep duties or maybe even as a spot in his own right.

UUUMMMM....The juniorless Goosters???
Thats what I mean...Sign Kennedy to 1 year and bring the kid up
If hes 2xKennedy-Sign him up now to the top 25
cause as someone in the club told me-$40000-45000-$50000 can seem like a big contract at the time when your struggling on manual labour jobs around the town
just look at Bird and Franze

33 days until HODGEs meets his "Mates"tomorrow ;-)

Not compleletly sure about this, but I heard that last season they signed him to some sort of upgraded contract when the Goosters were sniffing around. I cannot imagine that the club would be stupid enough to take their eyes off him for one second. 8-[

Wow - has he come from nowhere?
I remember seeing his name around as a potential Premier Leaguer who was yet another decent player - but are you saying he is a player for the big time?

Twice the talent of Ben Kennedy? I'm impressed.
How old is Snowden? Perhaps we need some profiles on these players Roopy.... I know that is yet another thing to put in your basket but it certainly is worth looking into.

The guy has it all. Watching his high school games last year showed just how far above his peers he was. The dominance he's had in every single game I've seen him play is what is really impressive. The skills are there, but so is the poise. The kudos will come and the pressure will be on him, but he appears to have his head screwed on so far.

I don't know about come from nowhere.

He was the Brian Carlson award winner as our junior of the year last year.
He also won the SG Ball player of the year and players player.
He also won MOTM in the under 17 NSW v Qld game - which would pretty much make him the top 16 year old in the world last year I'd say.
He also represented schoolboys and captained Hunter Sports High.

All in all i'd say he had a brilliant jnr year - but he has a chance to top it this year. If everything goes perfect for him he could walk away with a SG Ball title, a Jersey Flegg title (the two seasons finish at different times) a schoolboys title with Hunter Sports High - and he is a very good chance to be a Jnr Kangaroo as well.

What about Tilse Roopy, hows he going, isnt he our next Perry?
I'd say he is our next Parsons. He is a very big man.

I haven't seen him this year yet - but i have seen big Nic Andriessen, and I want to see a bit more before I make up my mind.

Last season Nic started out as a real big and chubby guy in Ball, and as he got thinner he got better and better till he was just a bit chubby and playing for NSW schoolboys. I saw him the other day and he is as thin as a whippet, still about 2 metres tall, but down to around 100kg i'd say. He didn't do a lot to impress, but he was only on for a short time. I never thought i'd say this about him, but he may need to bulk up a bit.

Roopy,

You said that Luke Walsh went alright in the trial VS Penrith.

Could you give me a more detailed review of what you thought of his play.

Also - what's he like in defence.

Thanks.

Hey,
Good to see you here.

I tend to move around a lot at the games a Lyle peacock - trying to get out of the sun mainly.

I sit on the hill at marathon - but it looks like I will have to find a new spot, someone has dumped a grandstand where i used to sit.

Walsh took a heavy knock in the first half and was off the field for a while - but I thought he looked simple but effective as a halfback.
None of the great kicking and putting guys through gaps passing of Scotty Dureau - but he was distributing the ball well and turned in a very 'tradesman like' performance IMO. As good as Duffy was in Flegg last season - and that was good enough to get him a rep spot.
I didn't notice him in defence - so he can't have made any huge blunders.

I'm still a big fan of Dureau - I hope he was just sitting this one out.
