I can't help but think Ponga will turn out to be one of those players who is very good but will always be that step behind the very best. Tedesco and Turbo have dominated him every time they've played each other. RTS is much better then him and I would put Papenhuzen on his level as well.

In pongas defence, he is surrounded by a team of reserve graders and has a coach whose only skill learnt from Bellamy is how to yell at his team.

Also wouldn’t help him being Newcastle where even his biggest dog shit performances are lapped up by the locals and is still told he’s the second coming.

That spijne is so bog average beside's him to be fair, the 7 should be playing 13 these days he offers less than Zero. Kurt Mann is the best half at the club.

2 of the 4 players you mentioned are far older than Ponga- I'd expect them to be be more consistent..

Ponga played SOO at the same age Thurston was coming off the bench for the Bulldogs and debuted for QLD the same age as Billy Slater did on the wing for QLD.

Think there might be a bit of improvement in Ponga just yet.

Can you email the club and make them aware of this.

Talk not long ago was pro extending Pearce.

Tell them to open their f**king eyes.

Even the supporters are only just starting to wake up to it.

Mediocrity is well ingrained in us.

RTS and Tedesco are 5-6 years older, and in the case of Tedesco plays in a great team. Papenhuyzen has been good this year but put Ponga in his spot and he'd look like a world beater, I mean Nico Hynes has played the last few weeks and no one even noticed Papenhuyzen wasn't there, you take Ponga out of the knights and we'd struggle score a point
