Mate its been widely reported that Benji is effectively on notice to perform or he will not be offered a contract. If Mary was sure to keep him, he would have been signed up by now.
If we really want him to stay, why hasn't he been offered an extension already? And why does it seem we're chasing every 7 available?
I like Benji and wouldn't mind him staying, but to say that there is "no way Mary will get rid of him" is off the mark.
Yes. I think every player should be on notice to perform. The issue I have with this is the fact that last year he was certainly one of the best (easily the best according to the Dally M judges but that isn't fair as forwards never poll as well as playmakers) and check out the highlights of that game in NZ.
I find it astounding how so many homies on this forum are against him.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this season. BrissyRedV and I have an agreement. We are going to cease fire over the halves (I'm not a fan of Widdop but he is and vice-versa for Benji) until round 6. Given the much stronger forward pack in theory giving the halves more time, Widdop and Benji must both take the ball to the line and cause enemy defences trouble with their passing game, running game or preferably both. To simply "be composed" isn't enough for Widdop and Benji must make fewer mistakes going for miracle plays.
If you like you could get in on our agreement. I have already had the pleasure of telling "Old Timer" I told you so which isn't surprising when one considers how stupid he is but I'm supremely confident I'm going to be telling it to BrissyRedV after 6 rounds.
Widdop isn't that kind of player. I know it. He is a good player. Solid, "workman-like" but that is my major issue with a lot of these homies. Since when does a "good, solid player" who was imported because the Dragons, or supercoach Price, were willing to pay much more than the enemy for his services command loyalty Gaz, Cooper, Young and etc could only dream of?
