There's plenty in the forwards. Unless you want our entire pack to be youngsters that is

Maitua, Ben Smith, Keating and Horo are all at least 27 next year. Mannah, Paulo, Ryan, Nathan Smith, Tautai and Harrison will all be 25.

A couple of those guys are inexperienced (will be less so by the start of next year) but not exactly youngsters.

The main thing is there will be a lot less oldness in our pack next year, which has to be a good thing.

We don't need to throw stupid money. Just reasonable money for the value of experienced first graders. We may not be the only club to miss out, but we are the one club to miss out on all of targets.

We got Lussick. Just because you don't rate him doesn't mean he's not an important signing.

I don't believe Hopoate has received any more praise as an individual and for his character than Hayne has.

Well I do. That's why I believe Hopoate will be a better influence at the club than Hayne.

You're making a statement without backing it up with anything. I can recall countless times I've read reports of those praising Hayne and his attitude and his character but if you choose to ignore those and only read the ones about Hoppa well I can't help you there. It's just a blind statement.

Mate, it's what I remember. I couldn't be f**ked looking for links so I can't provide you with proof. We'll just have to agree to disagree. As always.

Ok so one minute Harrison is a youngster with enthusiasm and a minute later now he's 25 year old with experience. We have have less 'oldness' next year, but too much inexperience in the same token,

We've signed a prop. A position we have no need for. No he's not that important.

Great. I remember otherwise. I do agree with you on one thing though, and that's about agreeing to disagree. As always.

No, he's inexperienced but in his prime age-wise. But by the start of next year he will have 20+ NRL games under his belt - certainly no rookie, and more to the point, nowhere near his physical decline.

We have have less 'oldness' next year, but too much inexperience in the same token

This year we have too much inexperience; next year most of our players will have an extra season of first grade under their belts. And due to the law of diminishing returns, our inexperienced players will learn more in that extra season than would a veteran of multiple seasons.

We've signed a prop. A position we have no need for. No he's not that important.

When Hindy, Fui and Poore run the ball tonight, pay attention to how long it takes them to play the ball. When they're defending, have a look how weak they are in the wrestle. But even Mannah and Allgood, who wrestle well, lack aggression. Lussick brings bucketloads of that.

You need to rewind a little, and ask yourself why are we getting dominated in the wrestle.

Heres a tip; watch the dogs forwards tonight, and watch how they work in pairs. Nice short passing at and before the line, consistantly asking questions of the defense. More often than not, they are able to get a quick play-the-ball, allowing another raid on a retreating defensive line.

The only time our forwards have looked good this year, is when they pass the ball. When we are able to put the defensive line in two minds, and put them on the back foot, then we too may start playing the ball a little quicker.

The way our forwards are playing, is allowing us to be wrestled into submission.

Yep and Hasler burns teams that also don't wrap up the ball carrier. The second phase keeps the defensive line on their heels going backwards.

hasler's strength is that he works with what he has got .... he mainly only had glen stewart at manly as the passing forward - rocked over to the dogs and found 3 or 4 guys who can do it so went with it across the board ...... oh and he's also a brilliant motivator

I love the emphasis on CONSISTINGLY

Agree. The dogs forwards short passing at the line is first class. Hasler is a master tactician.

And yet the Telecrap this morning state the Dogs were doing the same in 2011 under Moore and Dymock... but but but Hasler IS the only reason the Dogs have improved this year. Nothing to do with the skill of the squad.

I'm still not sold on the Hoppa signing given we have to wait for 2 years for him to even join the club. If his signing ends up resulting in us being unable to retain Hayne I'll be filthy. Lussick hasn't really done much to earn his inflated price-tag and Harrison probably wouldn't have played any first grade this year if it weren't for the fact Tony Williams and Glenn Stewart have been unavailable most of the season. Now Stewart is back Harrison is back to 19th man. I don't see why anyone would be excited about him signing and I hope we aren't paying him any more than about 80k.

And Stewart would not have got a start when he did if Ben Kennedy did not retire when he did. All players get a start because of another player not being picked. Harrison not getting a start in front of three current origin players is not surprising. But Harrison has been in front of burher another origin player . Anyhow Harrison could go anyway but at least he is coming from a top team.

Also how do we know what lussick has signed for ?

Every squad across the nrl has skill. It's the coaches job that they play to their potential on a weekly basis. The right game plan needs to be fabricated to suit the players in the squad. That's what hasler is doing right at the dogs.

It's one thing to have a team of good players, as opposed to a good team firing week in week out.

Hasler is a f**king genius.

Buhrer is more of a utility that's why he keeps getting picked on the bench. If you look at this weeks team buhrer is in the 17 while Harrison isn't. In regards to Lussick from all reports we offered a lot more than Manly did and that's why he's coming.
