Kearney - Yes or No?

A big, resounding no from me. If Bluey's to go, or there's to be an alteration to the coaching structure, barring guys who are under contract such as Bellamy (obvious choice if you could pick anyone you wanted... or Hasler, but I think Bellamy is more likely), the bloke I'd go for would be Steve Folkes. Been there, done that, won that.

This should be a poll, although based on what I am reading it would be a landslide result with one regular and one troll vouching for Kearney.

Order of preference for me:

1st equal Bellamy/Bennet/Hasler (dreaming though right?)
2nd Folkes
3rd Anybody else who has coached first grade in the past 3 years and is not on this list elsewhere
4th Kearney on his own
5th Kearney & Bluey together
6th Bluey on his own.

Daniel Anderson is available. He slacks everyone off after a year or two but gets great results straight away. What about him for one season only while they get Bellamy?
I don't think any of the current players were around in his previous Warriors term, maybe Mannering.

Bringing on a guy who ran the Eels to the ground is just a joke, its just choosing grass roots over quality and we'll never progress as a club if we keep doing that. I just don't see why a team who already don't play for the coach will play for a wooden spoon assistant coach.
Ran us into the ground???? He took over the worst squad in the comp IMO and did a reasonable job with what he had last season. The problem was we bought well in the offseason but he couldn't seem to work out a plan to match the players in his team ala Des Hasler who has done an amazing job with the Dogs.

As funny as this sounds i think he has left us in a far better state than when he got to Parra. He has helped improving our Junior structures which will hopefully bare fruit in a a few years time and he was hamstrung with the salary cap and what a few players were on. In 2014 We will have plenty of cap space to make a big play on the market. My main problem with his was i don't think he was tactically sound enough to be a first grade coach, so i doubt a Bluey and him Combo would be the answer. Also the style of play he coaches would hardly suit the Warriors team IMO. Maybe a devolpment role with your 20's would be a way to go.

Maybe Kearney couldn't come up with his own tactics, and therefore spent a season and a half trying to turn Parramatta into the Melbourne Storm.

That's what he tried to do and failed. I really think we needed to be somewhere in the middle, so if you guys think Bluey is tactically inept i fail to see how Kearney can help him or the club.

Fair enough, my opinion was based on this years performance and I didn't look closely at the entire back story behind it. I still stand by the fact that the Eels are having one of their worst seasons in their history (at least for the first half of it) and some of that has to fall on Kearney. Its just bizarre that out of all the candidates we went for him.

The big advantage the likes of Bellamy, Bennett and Hasler have over every other coach in the NRL is...they have more power than their players.

If one of those guys has a bad season, the players will get the blame.

This season most of it should fall on him, not having Hayne most of the season hasn't helped but him failing to find a plan to best improve and motivate the side was my biggest problem with him. Buying off the cuff players like Sandow and Roberts coupled with Hayne and sticking with his rigid and structured game plan was never going to work.

If Ivan gets the spoon, and an early amicable release from Penrith, what are the chances of him coming 'home' for some unfinished business?

There is no way that Cleary will get the ass from Penrith. Yeah they'll likely get the spoon this year, but Cleary has inherited a disaster, everyone knows it. He was brought in to clean that up and that doesn't happen in the first year. The Panthers will be a completely different side next year and not just in terms of the team list.

Funnily enough I think a Cleary/Kearney combo would work quite nicely though.

That would be the Warriors for ya...there are 3 teams that are below us on the table, and we try to recruit the coaches from the two worst:crazy:

And let an off-contract superstar (current All Black not homesick New South Welshman) be signed by the best of the worst.

NO NO NO NOOooooh
It's not even been considered whether Kearney will be of any use to this club at all. His appeal is that he's available, probably cheaper than those realistic coaches we prefer -Folkes, Anderson. etc. Geez I'd love to see Anderson back
Kearney can be signed up quickly, probably won't make too many demands & as far as the Clubs concerned its- "don't worry Mr Glen , all sorted".
While Aussie Clubs are breaking ass to get a premiership Warriors continue to persist with mediocre solutions but still expect the supporters to pay top dollar for tickets, gear etc. Oh well, no-one said business was ethical.
