so do you reckon he'd get our current squad in the top 8? I'd bet my life he couldn't, but that's certainly not bagging him, just saying that all through his Brisbane days and the first 3 years at St George he was blessed with very talanted squads..he goes to Newcastle next year and is blessed with another unbelivably talented squad including the signings of Snowden, Boyd and possibly Myles..

aaah, but that's the secret. Pick a team that just needs the final polish. I reckon Bennett could've changed Souths around and Sandow might've even stayed there.

I wonder if he took over our 2009 team in 2010 would things have been different.

As I said elsewhere, Hindmarsh is very good at slowing the play the ball and then at 1st marker he is always heading straight for the next ball receiver.

One case in point was when Nth Qld made a bust, Robbo cleaned up with a very good tackle but he just got up as quick as he could and let them have a quick play the ball. They eventually scored a few plays later so at the end of the day, what's the point. He should slow the play the ball, even pretend to get his arm caught in the player and slow it down.

I don't understand why some of the players always points to the sideline (blind side) at 1st marker when it is like a 10 meter blind side. Are they just lazy and don't want to go in for the next tackle? It pisses me off.

Hindmarsh has to start teaching the other players how he holds the tackled player down so long.

I would have thought this would have been one of SKs main strengths, considering where he served his coaching apprenticeship

I think its a good idea to have someone like Hindy rested but Rogers should not replace him, maybe someone like Shakelton.

I would drop Rogers and be tempted to bring up Matuia straight to the bench, we are also missing Poore.

Cant wait to have the pack and bench looking a bit like

8 Mannah
9 MaGuire
10 Poore
11 Hindmarsh
12 Matuia
13 Smith

14 MK
15 Shak
16 Fui
17 Webb/Allgood

that would be so much more reliable, ATM Allgood is getting dominated after a bright start, shak is finding is probably to light weight to be an out and out prop and Horo/Lasalo are inconsistant although Lasalo was quiet good tonight but should play 80 on the edge tbh, edge backrowers shouldnt have to get interchanged.

This

A rotating strike force of props + Webb for 80 minutes is the go - we also have wide running backrowers (+ Fui) running at holes & assisting 7, 6 & 9/14 in defence.

Kearney confirmed in his post match press conference there were no injuries in the match apart from Shack's early hiccup.
Wow.

That two points sits squarely on SK's head then, imo. We can blame the players as much as we like, but SK's the one who's meant to plan and motivate and get the most out of this lot.

He's not doing particularly well imo, regardless of the reltive merits of our squad compared to last year - we've got biggest points difference in the comp, and the Sharks will lap us.

Fair point. Maybe it shouldn't have been an issue, but either:
a) Coach overestimated how much we had NQ under the pump
b) Coach underestimated NQ's (JT's) ability in attack
c) Coach overestimated the ability of our team
d) The 16 remaining players don't have an ounce of leadership or cohesion or ability to bounce back when things go wrong without their captain on the field, or
e) a bit of all of the above.

I guess it's good that SK now knows that we're fragile enough to throw away games from that position (but it's not like we've performed strongly enough for him not to know he had to make absolutely sure of it).

Worst points difference in the comp, and I don't see anything changing in defence under SK's "structure".

I for one won't be tipping us again, unless Maitua and Poore are both back in the starting side and have started to make some significant difference to this side's mettle.

What gives you the impression Kearney knows why we lost? He said in the press conference that he has no idea why we fell apart....

I think that is two games now that we had won (Dogs and Cowboys) and lost both in the short period that Hindmarsh was off the field.

This decision was just stupid....it actually wouldnt shock me if he does it again before the end of the season... Although, surely Kearney will learn from this now....

I think that loss willl just about destroy our confidence.....Hayne realistically couldnt do too much more to get us over the line and Hindmarsh did his job and wouldve done so for the last 18 minutes...

It must have absolutely killed Hindy watching from the sideline as the Cowboys started running rough shot.
How can the coach take our legend, our defensive machine off to replace him with a mere mortal??
Kearney does not understand us! He doesn't really know our players....

Watching the presser is was clear to see that Hiindy did not appreciate SK's explanation that the reason we got run down was because the team thought they may have done enough.

Kearney has some serious man management issues before him. I honestly think he is losing the trust of our best players - Hindy & Jarryd.

The vibe I got from the press conference

In reference to the final 20 minute decay.....
"I could see it from the sideline" said Hindy.
The way he said it indicates Hindy was totally pissed off with SK for being taken off.

In this conference, SK came across as a novice.
Lets see if he grows up real fast over the coming few weeks.
I'm staggered he did not have the honesty & humility to just take all the blame for this loss.
How crap it is to blame all the other players while knowing his main strike defender was taken off the field due to his instructions.

No, but he has a "structure" and a "plan for the future" that the Board has fallen over themselves in believeing will fix any of our past coaching and recruitment ills...

Surely the test of a good coach is if can they get the best out of the playing group they have got? So far, with the focus on players having to learn the new "strcuture", and signs of bad coaching decisions (and bad team and individual outcomes), it seems SK is not quite meeting this challenge.

I think if you're going to put an emphasis on "structure"... It needs to be placed off the field before you put it on the field. Kearney really needs to take a step back and realise that at the moment he's not working in a developed system like the Storm who can throw bucketloads of cash into their off field structure.

Or he just needs to look at the squad he has for the current 12 months, and work to their strengths, while developing on their weaknesses, instead of imposing some rigid unproven structure on a bunch of blokes who it simply might not fit.

DA was criticised from one quote for "not knowing" what was behind our late 2009 form. I'd say that SK won't even get close to seeing that form blossom, because of how he's treating this squad - essentially the same spine and depth as the late 2009 lot, just with a few cosmetic swaps.

Kearney appeared a shattered man in the press conference. I think his own confidence will be shot now that the teams confidence is shot... I doubt he has any answers to get us out of this trouble for this season...it appears a write off.

It wouldnt surprise me if there is a bit of in-fighting develops...nothing too major, but I think Hindmarsh would have to be frustrated, he knows we probably wouldve won if he stayed on the field. I think Hayne feels that he probably missed SOO because he has to do all our halves work for them so it appears he is playing like a five-eighth.

Although we were great for 60 minutes I think our total confidence will be shot from the last 20 mins....I cant see alot of good times ahead for the 2011 Eels.
