He certainly hasn't convinced a bunch of hysterical wrist-slitters. But I guess that's why none of those deadshits run footy clubs.
No, but the thousands of us that pay to sit through games like that vote for who runs footy clubs. ;-)

(Well those of us that have been bothered to support the club through membership, rather than rabbiting on on message boards can vote, anyway...)

The only people supporting Kearney have achieved something. I guess patience really is a virtue.
Depends how you measure achievement. Getting voted onto a board in an election isn't an achievement, per se. Patience taken to its extreme can also signal lack of leadership, and become passive acceptance of deemed authority, and we all know where that gets us....

If we don't make a move soon to extend Kearneys contract do you think another club might sneak in under our guard and steal him? Or do you think Kearney would give us an opportunity to make a counter offer to secure him?

i don't think its considered "stealing" if you leave the car unlocked with the keys in the ignition in a carpark at mt druitt ;-)

i think if another club came along and made him and offer and we didn't have to pay him out, our board might do a little dance of joy

Because the voting fans have consistently delivered us quality leadership for the past 25 years.

We have the dumbest fans in the NRL, and the dumbest of those tend to become members.

I was a member once but got off that sinking ship after going to one of the meetings. ;-)

I certainly feel sorry for the smart members who want to make a difference, but democracy means they're swimming against the tide.

I was talking about all the coaches and staff that support Kearney - all high achievers, and many of them involved with winning premierships.

You seem to put scorn on the fans generally, but elevate those lucky fans who happen to have manoeuvred themselves to have been elected onto the Board as part of a large ticket? Ok then.

We have the dumbest fans in the NRL, and the dumbest of those tend to become members.
I don't think our fans are any smarter or dumber than those of any club or code. You seem to have a problem with our fans though?

Wow, that's so smart...:sarcasm:. You must be the first person to realise that you could better support your club by renouncing your membership and sniping at fellow supporters on the internet instead?

I certainly feel sorry for the smart members who want to make a difference, but democracy means they're swimming against the tide.
Yes, bloody democracy hey. Better to have automatic respect for our deemed superiors, and allow autocratic rule without any criticism. Luckily, I think there is a career where people can play out their fantasies of always respecting authority, through right and wrong.

Again, depends how you measure achievements. The world's highest achieving most experienced player will still be a shit coach if they can't man manage, work out how to use an interchange bench, or express a game plan to a room of 17 gen y elite athletes.

Another case of Poupou bullying people by three or four of them calling him names...
Where have "three or four" people called Poupou a name in this thread in the last day or two to warrant that comment?

Goodness. You are really insecure about having never been a soldier, aren't you?

There's really no need to be. I'm sure you've done some challenging things in your life as well.

Not at all. My grandfathers served in the wars. Conscription would have turned generations off the concept of military service, but I've met people who have chosen to be soldiers in modern times too. Good luck to them.

I just think the military-style respect for and acquiescence to authority at all costs is a narrow frame through which to continue to view other facets of the modern world.

Yep, in the real world it usually is.

And imo that's where the "logic" that the coach/board/whoever must know what they're doing, simply because they are holding down that position, is flawed. Might work fine in the army for a specific purpose, but not elsewhere.
