As said, most decent coaches need one off-season to get a club in a position to be successful. Not the first four years of some five year plan....

It matters because it poses the question - who is shit, Bennett or the Knights?

It's been answered before in other threads. You've asked me before, and I've replied to you. If you had something worthwhile to say on that issue you would have said it then.... Bennett and the Knights are irrelevant to the topic and answer you received to your question in this thread, the answer being:

The point is, sacking (this) coach after two years won't imo stop us from attracting/hiring a decent coach willing to live and die on his performance and results throughout his 5 year plan....

I disagree.

Sacking Kearney before his contract is up will ensure any established coach with a reputation to lose will give our club a wide berth.

The Bennett/Knights issue shows how little control a coach has over on-field results, especially when there has been a number of recent roster changes.

Just like us, the Knights' new players are struggling to gel, but unlike us they have a lot more solid first graders in their squad.

I don't know if you've been watching, but Wenty are going very well. As they say, it all starts with a strong reserve grade.

Unfortunately we have two of them.

Aren't they coming 7th out of 13 teams with 6 wins and 6 losses? That is middle of the table, so i would say they are going average, not very well. Unless of course you are comparing their results to kearneys results, then yes they are going very very well

I think the issue for the Board is that if they sack Kearney it sends a negative message to the playing group and to any future coaches. To the playing group it says that if you don't like the coach and don't perform we'll sack him. Notwithstanding that, it means the players don't know how to prepare and develop to fit a plan because the coach might change from season to season. To future coaches it says you won't have job security. This is the Kearney conundrum. He has to go, but getting rid off him might make it harder for us to attract and retain coaches and players.

No it doesn`t. It just means that if you come third last in your first year, and last in your second year - with no evidence to suggest that things will get better - you`ll probably get the arse. Fair enough, I reckon.

Bullshit. And he wouldn't be sacked. He'd be terminated in line with the terms in his contract and if the current board performance is anything to go by he'll get paid out in full or some other nonsense.

Sport history is full of sacked coaches and there is never a lack of candidates or applicants to fill the void.

This is the part of our club's structure that irks me. Ideally the club should be strong through its roots in junior reps all the way up, and with the junior base we have it shouldn't be that hard to do at those base levels. But it doesn't seem like anything is filtering up to our u20s and senior teams, and suggest that whatever plans are being implemented aren't working or aren't expected to work for a fair while, which if that's the case, is rubbish.

I don't mind missing the finals or having a crap season every 2-3 years but we've been crap for a bit and seem to be going backwards without anything coming through to lift the team.

I wish I parra now at least resembled parra when Brian smith took over or collingwood when Mick malthouse started there.

Wouldn`t the salary cap make it difficult to keep a lot of your juniors? I get your point, though.
