I am starting this thread because I honestly believe this. For the following reasons
1. Like many other clubs he had a new half, 5/8 combo to coach. Ours have been the most successful, easily. It is common knowledge that he persuaded Hunt to come to the club, after all Hunt could have gone where he liked and got the same money.
2. He has got the best out of Vaughan and Sims.
3. People on this forum wanted him and Millard gone when they refused to give Dugan what he wanted. He and Millward were right.
4. He has had the balls to admit he is still learing the role.
5. People who have forgotten more about football than any of us would know, Phil GOULD, believe he is doing a fantastic job
6. Lastly but most importantly, look at the players concentration at half time in the sheds when he is talking. They take in every word he says. Vaughan, Frizzell and Sims idolise the guy.
O’Kay I am ready for it. I have my Ned Kelly body armour on, give it to me both barrels

He's got the team playing well and as a unit.
The main point here is NOT to upset the applecart and continue the status quo ....... in winning!

Hey buddy, just because l've cut Mary some slack on the 'Sack McGregor' thread doesn't mean I'm going to start blowing kisses and laying roses at his feet, ok?

He's got the team playing well and as a unit.
The main point here is NOT to upset the applecart and continue the status quo ....... in winning!

And the facts are we have been in this very position before and crumbled so let's see where we are at the 3/4 mark of the season.
On the basis of what you have seen thus far where do you estimate we should finish at regular seasons end and will you consider anything below that a failure?

It all comes down to each persons reason they wanted or want him gone, Im with you, i wanted Mary gone only cause he wasnt delivering, no other reason, but as a fan of his (when he played) i was hoping he would come good, so far he has and if that trajectory upwards continues, then i see no reason to sack him....he will only get better anyway.

Wow that is some real steely arsed belief in the coach and the achievements thus far "top 4", you are really sticking your neck out there considering we are running 1st and you are a "true believer".
You want people to buy into and agree with your original post but you take the insurance policy (maybe missionary) position instead of making a real statement.
If what you say is really true you should be saying the "JJ Giltinan Shield" or top 2 as the absolute minimum.
If this coach you have belief in doesn't finish top 2 from where we currently sit then you should be asking for him to be sacked.

I admit I am critical of his coaching but you have to give him credit for the start to this season.
His use of the bench is still a big issue with me.
Depending how we finish this season will determine what thread I will focus on. This one or sack him.

All the bull shit and carry on that top 4 from here suggests a good year and we should be content is the exact reason why people like me get annoyed.
From this position a good coach barring any major catastrophe's gets you to GF day otherwise all the positive stuff people have posted is just bullshit and they don't have any real belief at all.
If other teams grow a leg and readjust and we pull a hammy like we have the last 3 years, then it is time people get on the band waggon and forget about who is a good fellow or not and start being selfish and say who is the coach that can win us the competition because sure as eggs in the hands of a good coach this lot could potentially do that.
If Mc Fookknuckle was to win the comp I would happily eat crow but those that praise him and say we should ease up as he has learnt so much will not even eat as much as a cookie when things go pear shape.

Can you please inform me when any other coach who missed the semis in the last three years mage the GF the next year. Not only that, the other intelligent points I put in paragraph has gone straight over your head. I am not surprised
