Lance aint in the team - even though he deserves it. Neither is kidwell or benji.

SBW Captain.

Asotasi to the bench. Lima, Cayless starting.

Betcha it will be the team I pretty much predicted. Hopefully they go with someone other than covell to replace manu.

FFS why didnt they pick Matai, someone who wont back down and has a bit of fire in the belly!!

I know hes only been 2 games in leading up to the test but hes been solid for us.

IMO, Lima, SKD were both very unlucky.

Kidwell and Blair were very lucky.

Team should have been:

Webb
Nightingale
Soliola
Perrett
Kenny-Dowall
Roberts
Leuluai
Cayless
Luke
Asotasi
Pritchard
Mannering
SBW

Halatau
Sa
Smith
Lima

With Fa'alogo & Hohaia as backup.

" I'm not going to change my game".

That's why. Lacks discipline.
Bit of fire in the belly is fine, but he's a headshot merchant who doesn't learn from his mistakes. If he lowered his target area a few centimetres he'd be a more than useful player.

One day young fella you are going to learn how not to come out with
the big bullsh*t statements.

I suppose the comedic value makes them worthwhile though.

Mate have you heard of last minute changes. Ask that fulla stanaway

re: Nightengale in instead of Covell - They didnt even know he was eligible, wasnt even in considerations.

NZRL board, selectors and Bennett wanted Asostasi dropped as Captain and put in the bench. As late as the weekend. That is a fact. Only person backing was Kearney.

Board also made recommendations about the non-selection of a number of players.

Kearney may of talked to SBW about offering captaincy and instead decided against it, Didnt want to ruffle feathers.

Matai gives away too much penalties, has injury issues - but he would of been in my team. On one wing at least.

SKD/Stanley(and hopefully Matai) and Rapira/Eastwood will be the players who came close and will be on stand-by.

As for Lance - Im happy they included him. Though he is not garunteed to play. With questions over the ESL players It would of been stupid to not include someone with so much versatility.

Looks like they also decided against Fien. A decision which most would agree isnt based on form or talent. (Good decision IMO - dont need to start F' OFF Fien Foundation)

Can't agree, the majority of his hits are fine. In the past season i can remember 2 that have gone wrong, 1 on Ben Smith that Smith fell into, and the Gasnier one.

If we took that attitude with kiwi players then Wiki would never have gotten off the ground

I can't believe the flack Matai is copping for 'that' tackle. I did not think it was all that bad. Seen a damn sight worse that aren't even mentioned a day or two later, yet some people go on like it was an all time dirty shot or something. Sorry, don't think I'm looking with biased Kiwi eyes but I just don't see it. Morleys got off with far less IMO

Has Wiki ever been sent off? I know he's been binned, and been up before the judiciary a number of times. He may well have, but i cant recall any.

Matai, in a relatively short career has been sent off twice for high shots. Haven't seen as many Manly games as yourself, but in the matches i have seen, he's given away penalties for the same offence and for general niggle.. I wouldn't like to see him go down that serial offender track for one so young.

Dont get me wrong. I think he has some great attributes. I dont think he intentionally goes in to take people's heads off either, but because his target area is generally upper chest , he has a small window for error if he mis-judges or the player slips.

I hope he doesn't change the attitude in which he plays with, just a slight alteration in technique. I think he has a lot to offer if he gets this right.

There is a famous story regarding Wiki, when he 1st went to Canberra, was playing in reserve grade, Tim Sheens got all the big boys to come and watch him play, and he got sent off  Ruben himself was a serial offender at some points, think he missed 38 weeks of footy through suspension from memory.

I can't remember the 2nd time Matai has been sent off at all, can't recall it for Manly at all. I don't mind his penalties in the games so much, because generally they are at the start of a game and testing the ref's limits, is usually for holding down too long. Can be worked on pretty easily. His main problem imo is just being a bit too passionate at times, which i also think is a good attribute at the same time. I love the blokes hits, and more often than not he gets them right

I just think for this match, a key attribute for us needs to be getting up in their face a bit, and i don't see any of that at all in the backline, and Matai could have added that.

And what do you know?! There doesn't seem to be ANY free to air coverage of the upcoming test, not even the next day.
Disgraceful, if this was the ABs there would be absolute heel to pay. Can't really blame Sky though, they're a business and doing what they do. Full blame to our ****witted politicians that allowed this in the first place, I remember Maurice Williamson with hand on heart vowing this would never happen when Sky first started buying sporting rights , and all international rep games would be seen by all New Zealanders. The Aussie politicians at least made that provision.

in wa we arn't getting the test live on free to air, only mel, sydn, bris, doesn't bother mr this year i'll be working, but if i wasn't working i'd be even more pissed off, i blame the network ch 9, for being a washed up afl network with 2 afl shows that they try to win the public over cause no1 watches them any more, then they satisfy their pension viewers with repeats of bold and beautiful when theres a league game on

Well, I like the Atmos at a local pub for League tests anyway so I'll be there. Bums me I can't tape a replay though. If we win it'd be for sale on Trade me in hours anyway though!

Are the odds out on the test yet? TAB seems to be holding back on it, like they can't decide! If we're getting $4-$5 I'll be putting a lazy ten on for head to head.
Can't believe how much EVERYONE in the media is writing the Kiwis off. Certainly long odds for sure, but 'no chance'?! FFS, I've got a few games recorded now where there was no chance as well where the result has stunned...there's always a chance. There were a couple of Aussies on before suggesting this game will be a try fest to the Aussies again...I hope that'll be pasted on the walls for ammunition!

You never know.

All the kiwi bunnies players had pretty solid games last Sunday.

Best games theyve had since I can remember.

I hope they bring that kind of form into the test.
