This is being talked about heaps and as far as I'm aware, the guys who have commtied to island teams for the WC aren't available. I haven't heard this from any realiable source though, just the general concensus on the forums here so take it with a grain of salt. Until we hear anything official (train on sqaud will give away some clues) I don't think anyone will know.

Well under current rules - he wouldnt' but when have they been applied.
Tonga an Samoa (particulary) wouldnt even exist under these rules.

I think both parties have being trying to work it out - hence why NZ havent named the train-on squad yet.

Apparently NZRL have now finally gained clearance for both players and expect them to be seen in NZ colours.

not sure if they are already together or what - but I dare say it will be named on monday when they know which teams have been eliminated.

Also think a special somebody is going under the knife once again. hopefully for the last time.

It's nice to have so much more depth this year to pick from, but I still wouldn't go ignoring ESL players just yet. Especially since I think we shouldn't just roll over and accept that the English clubs aren't going to release players when the regulations say they should be. I'm not that familiar with their form, but certainly David Solomona and Jason Cayless would be nice additions to the forward pack if they're still going well. I'd also quite like Motu Tony in the squad, but I haven't seen the Dragons play much and the young guys there might be able to fulfil that role.

The main thing to my mind though would be bringing back Brent Webb and Shontayne Hape. Inu and Perrett have both gone well this year, but I'd like to see Webb around for his experience even though the whole eligibility situation is a bit odd. Hape on the other hand I rate as the best centre we've got and since he's apparently back from injury now I'd love to see him in the Kiwi's team.

As for the halves I think I'd like to see Marshall and Smith as a pairing or Roberts and Smith if Marshall is out for some reason. Smith just appeals as the most genuine halfback we've got to choose from and I'd like to see him given a chance to run things. It's certainly a nice change to have options in that area now though!

Tuiaki and moimoi were both on the news the other week saying they want to play for the kiwis

If they want to play for us it shouldn't even be an issue. Funny that any player that says he wants to play origin is immediately considered eligible for the Roos no matter what, and no one stands in their way. But when we have to go through an eligibilty issue, we have to fight tooth and nail for players which are rightfully ours. And don't get me started on those scum bag ESL clubs.

Be interested to see if stanley is picked for the squad.
could seriously be another karmichael situation.
He'll have multiple sides in his ear.
He could easily line up in wellington in green and gold.(u/20) hopefully instead it is just all gold.

A few young players have turned down the black jersey - who think they have a shot of origin and green and gold. But will end up in Samoan and Tongan jerseys.

NZ ask them now and if they say no - never pick them again (including covell).

What's everyone's thoughts on Kidwell?

For mine, I think his head is bigger than his one hit wonder. How selfish was he thinking that he could come back from a long lay off and reasonably contribute for his team in semis football. I feel sorry for the bloke that was match fit and would've made a better effort than what Kidwell did, but obviously had to make way. Kidwell's own assessment of the game was the he was under prepared in terms of match fitness and had heavy legs.

I'd easily bypass Kidwell for the upcoming series. I've never really considered that he contributes significantly to the team. Unless of course he has a presence like Ruben Thorne.

His post injury comment really didn't do his credibility any favours:

"So you would've been gutted that your injury has put you out the test?"

"Yeah, but not as gutted as Bluey was!"

And it's noted that Bluey suggested otherwise.

I wouldn't have him anywhere near my team. He's a hot head and a very loose
unit....guys like that are liabilities.

Those who suggested he should be Kiwi Captain........wrong, very wrong....
