lost 30-25, ref crucified us.

Matt White was our best on ground, Abes had some good moments and Walsh led them round well.

For them, Sam Moa and Rangi Chase were really good.

Wooden had a fair game as fullback, but didn't involve himself in the attack much.

Quigley started in the second row. He has more heart than the rest of them put together.

Chris Bailey scored our first two tries with great runs - but he injured his shoulder in the first try and went off before halftime and didn't come back on.

Matt White was really bending their line back.

The best back was 20 year old James McManus - better than Tighe and Salkeld. He could challenge for firstgrade next season for sure.

Abraham played some big minutes and looked stuffed towards the end of the game - but it will be great for his fitness to play like that.

We lost a close one 32-25 and the lead changed hands four or five times.

oh, McManus did really well too

he is pretty slow for a centre though.
I was surprized how easily he got run down twice when in the clear (or three times if you count the little break near our line).
I've always thought of him as reasonably quick. maybe they just had a couple of really quick guys on him.

How did Rangi Chase go? Tigers fans are particularly interested to know how he went given it's his first game starting at half in premier league and given our halves situation. I doubt anyone made the trip up too. Obviously you wouldn't have paid that much attention to him, but any infor would be appreciated.

Thanks.

For those that did go, what do you think the crowd figures would have been? Myself and Fred sat in upper Western, there would have only been say 6 or 7 other spectators, plus Cooper, Thaiday, Mullen and Campbell (and a lone cameraman) up there. Nice to see some of the *ahem* older supporters turn up too given the weather before kickoff.

Very poor crowd.
I've seen twice the crowd for a Ball and Mathews fixture - and also for a Flegg stand alone fixture.
I'd say the drizzle before the game turned many off - and maybe the fact that they are such losers had something to do with it too.

SO did anyone see how the famous steele went?? I went to the game!! and I actually thought that Brendan WOrth was better than whitey on the day. White kept falling off the tackles. Some very good hitups.

Steele came off with an injury but i wonder how genuine it really was. He missed 2 tackles (that led to tries) in the game and the second one he complained of a hamstring injury.

THey I was out in town on Saturday night and he was COMPLETELY fine, dirty dancing it up (didn't look like he had an injury at all) i don't think that was fiar on the team if he came off and didn't have an injury. Because we haed to re-shuffle our whole team around as we only had forwards on the bench.

Good effort by the boys though considering Balmain is 3rd on the ladder. They had awesome defence.

i think this is something smith will want fixed. He seems to realy like having a strong premier league team. I dont think i can ever recall us having a top 4 premier league team.

I've heard reports from two different people that White was outstanding on Saturday, breaking the Balmain line almost at will.
