Knights threatening to storm out of the castle

there is no chance on earth we'd relocate.

19k to a game and Burraston blames the crowds and threatens the clubs demise? absolutely ridiculous.

First thing Burraston needs to do is get his own house in order and that should include considering tapping in to all other income streams or investigating alternative business models. i am 100% for privatisation and have been for a long time

Strangely enough I find myself agreeing with you :sarcasm:. If Buzz can't keep a club with average clouds of over 19,000 afloat then he should stand down. Perhaps he's eating the profits?

what a load of crap - especially from a manly fan. you guys would have been dead a while ago without max writing the cheques, so pull your head in.

IMO this is all about Burraston laying the groundwork for privatisation to be accepted by the members. I think Tinkler (maybe with Singo) is going to take us on - no source, just gut feeling. And I think the first thing they will do is lower ticket prices.

Can someone please explain to me why privatisation wouldn't go down well with most Newcastle people? Like for example if I was rich and wanted to inject some money into the Knights why would that be a bad thing?

2nded!!!

There is no loss to the fans right? I mean which owner doesnt want to see his team to well? Russell gose to alot of Souths games and is pretty into it, News Group or whatever do what they can to see the Broncos go well... I mean how does money hurt the club in anyway? The only problem I can see is perhaps the board are greedy and dont want to lose their power base or jobs... Greedy and selfish if that is the case... then again I could be mightly wrong:eek:

Which is exactly my point. We had to find a new way/go in a new direction so we did. If Buzza's grand plan is to make sure you guys average 24,000 to every home game then God help you.

I dont for a second think that is the grand plan - IMO this is the beginning of a new agenda.

Well I do know of some people who havent moved since 1988 and I figure most of the people who are in the Western Stand are all but permanent fixtures. I am not sure how they will cope if they pull down or revamp that stand......lol

I have been in the Western stand since 1998 and you would have been 100% correct until this year. I believe that season tickets are down by up to 60%.
I had 3 season tickets up until this year and now I only have 1, mainly becauase we dod not get the use last year with the Monday night games and Sunday night game (v Broncs).
Interestingly my wife received a call yesterday from Knights wanting to know why we had dropped tickets and if they could do anything to get us back.

Jobdog,

This is the first sensible thing I have heard you say!!! lol

I agree privatisation is the more desirable alternative...but Con Constantine is definately not the man for the Knights. I used to think so...until recently. The way he cannot leave the people he hired to do a job at the Jets alone to do that job shows he is not the man we need. I suggest Nathan Tinkler would be a more suitable candidate for the Knights to approach.

Second to that Central Coast is the closest alternative, but in terms of revenue and keeping the club afloat...Perth is then the solution.

Perth. No. Auckland. No.

Central Coast? I could live with.

In the meantime, I'll settle for having the Newcastle Knights playing out of  Newcastle!

And FTR, I'd prefer to have Con or someone else privatise the club before we moved to Perth.

Snoop,

Stop talking rubbish. If the NRL had ANY balls Manly would have gone broke years ago after their treatment of North Sydney in the Northern Eagles merger. Manly were broke without the $8m. The NRL should have demanded the money back!!!

Which is exactly my point. We had to find a new way/go in a new direction so we did. If Buzza's grand plan is to make sure you guys average 24,000 to every home game then God help you.

Also looking at the ticket prices on the Knights web site. Couldn't help but notice that they are slightly cheaper when you pre purchase them.

Being a season ticket holder there's isn't much more I can do to contribute.

But how many fellow Knights supporters treat it as just going along to support your favourite footy team? Cuz for me its where I can go to let off a bit of steam and forget about troubles as it were.

Too much doom-n-gloom from Burro. The grey army with their $35/year input will toast his sorry arse for this. I've listened to him on radio and hear nothing "crowds are to blame". Someone better tell him there's more money out there than that. Stop thinking that we're in the 70s still and branch out.

My comment earlier about getting a new PA was mentioned too! Yay! But it turns out it's the ISC trust's responsibility. Can't believe they're not exploring it now that he actually knew who was resposible. Must've been at least a plan they're discussing behind closed doors, while only mentioning "you fans are to blame" outside.
