well i for one wholeheartedly disagree with mozza.

i very rarely attend games (1 or 2 per year) and never buy merchandise yet still consider myself a massive fan of the team and have no reservations in being a vocal critic of the club when its warranted. while i certainly have a strong interest in the playing roster etc i can also accept there are plenty of people who, while they may not know everyone's name, are strong supporters of the team and have the right to share their sentiments.

going to games and buying a jersey does not make a supporters opinion any more or less valid. dictating what a supporter must do or know before their opinions are considered valued is fairly poor form.

You actually care about the club I assume, the people I was referring to couldn't give a sh*t about the club unless the team is winning

fair enough, perhaps the wording threw me off, however the '95% of newcastle' call is a bit of a stretch. im sure youll find every club has a large increase in attendance when the team is flying high at the top of the ladder and visa verca.

i just think that peope are entitled to criticise when its deserved and doing so doesnt mean one is a fair weather fan. not attening games etc can be a priduct of more than just a losing team although i do agree it certainly does impact attendances.

I didn't miss the point, Tim. My hypothetical was intended solely in the context of the small section of your previous post which I highlighted:

"halfback Dureau>Mullen"

What you might have meant is Dureau/Mullen > Mullen/Rogers; and while I don't agree, of course I accept that it's vital to consider the effect strengthening one position has on the other and that the most important issue is which combination is the most potent overall.

You are correct, I was more speaking of combinations, but I do think that Scott is a better organiser of men than Mullo.

Scott doesnt let the forwards have a rest when we have to cart the ball out of our half, he is very vocal and gets stuck into them when he doesnt think they are putting in.

Mullo and Rogers dont have this in their game.

As I have said before, I like Rogers, and we are gonna need him and the other 2, but we seem to lose something when Mullo plays 80 mins at halfback.

For the record, there are about 6-8 5/8's in this league that I would be happy with to push Mullo to 7, but they arent on our roster.
