tonight was diabolical - defence was awful, attack was non-existant, the players playing out there are just not up to first grade standard.

i suggested Thaiday should get a run at fullback - i'm prepared to say now it was probably a mistake and he isn't up to it. one on one he was vulnerable, and the way he left the ball when being bombed was rediculous.

I thought thaiday was great. Just goes to show you can't please everyone.

to be honest didnt hear the crusade at all tonight....

couldnt believe the PARRA chant going up numerous times... enough to bring a tear to the eye that our home was enemy territory for a night.

this is the most embarrassed I have ever been as a Knights fan. 64-14? That was nothing compared to this. we are officially the joke of the NRL, weak excuses or not.

Cant get any worse? We have been saying that for what, nearly a year now?
Well I hav to agree there mac, I thought I was at Parramatta Stadium for a minute, but that also became apparent to me that Parra fans would hav to be in the semi-finals of the most fickle bunch of supporters in the comp. Many of them, I dare say r bandwagon supporters, just follow the team cos they're going well.

On the game, well I don't know where to start, I never thought I would see the day where my beloved Knights had 50 put on them at home, and not manage to score a single point in reply   Just does make u wonder where our next win is going to come from...........

On most of our players coming up not being of first grade standard, is it because they aren't or is it because the selection process is continually being done wrong, in that those that hav NEVER played first grade are thought to be "too much of a risk". Well I think now is the time, I know we've been saying this for a while now, but WE MUST GIVE NATHAN HINTON AND DANIEL SPITERI A RUN IN FG. Even if it is only those two who r being given a run, then at least it is a start for the rest of those who know where they can be if they standout in Premier League.

.

I don't think so. You don't get Bandwagoners making a 2 hour journey north, the Eels fans that were at EA Stadium last night are your fans that bleed Blue and Gold, the ones that have endured the constant torment of supporting a Team going nowhere because it is lead by Brian Smith. I only wish I could have been there last night.

Heads up Newcastle "Tough times don't last Tough People do" and to put it one way, a Wooden Spoon would be considered completely unacceptable by the broader Knights-supporting community and would without a doubt bring about change in regards to Management and CEO.

Time to clean the wax out of those old ears, Mac! We were cheering our asses off, even when we had sweet FA to cheer about. My old man sits over in front of the big screen, and he told me that he could hear our 'referee' chant, which I was quite impressed with.

That said, I must agree that the Parra fans got all over the top of us, which is disgraceful on our home track.

Yeah sure shane considering RABK was talkin to someon who sat in the other corner on the opposite hill could hear our referee chant.

Eels did have it on us... we had nothing to chant but refs and Worth.

i thought he improved in the second half, but in the first half he was awful - wouldn't commit to the ball when being bombed, missed one-on-one tackles, dropped ball on numerous occasions which but the Knights under pressure. i think Hinton would be worth a shot, but who would want a shot at the number 1 jersey after the curse that robbie o put on it once he realised he wasn't getting it back ;-)

Sam Stewart..McCormack..David Boyd...Jeff Doyle..Gavin Miller...Steve Fulmer...Players who had nothing else but heart to go on would and should be shocked at the performance of that steamimg pile that was dished up last night! If they ever strung more than 2 passes together..well they didnt!
That one out crap is just that ..crap!
Marc Glanville...Bill peden... those players gave it all but this current crop is just plain useless
we used to have a fully representative backline..now its just plain funny and painful..with no solution in sight..Forwards are a bunch of plodders...Craig Smith at 33 is the best without doubt

But to be beaten 50-0! in this day and age is just plain bullsh*t

Mass clean out..of all!

Thiday played ordinary. Dangerous in attack, i was worried everytime a high ball went up.

We have done ok with-out these facilities with previous teams whats up with this one? We have no inspiration like BK. From where i see it we have about 5 players that really love their fotty... the rest see it as a job IMO.

A few key reasons:

1. Defence -- probably about three times as many missed tackles as the Eels made + Insecurities on the fringes, especially Hall and Tighe's side of the field last night.

2. Not enough speed. It's no surprise that we haven't scored many (if any) run-away tries this season. Our backs are too slow, seriously undynamic, under-skilled, unfit and talentless in some cases.

3. Support play -- where is it? Parramatta scored 50 points, at least 40 of which just from supporting line-breaks. Thaiday probably created a couple of chances last night, and had the ball ready to offload but alas..... there was no one there.

4. Kicking game from Mullen was great -- gee the kid can play. Let's hope he isn't shuffled back out when and if Kidley returns alongside Johns. The only couple of errors we saw are the sort of mistakes that a bit of experience will weed out.

5. Shayne Hayne -- the forward pass gives a fair indication of this bloke's abilities. I'm not one to criticise referees too much -- it's a tough gig. All I want to know is how it is that the only three people at the ground who didn't know the ball was forward were the three men that mattered? Even the try scorer knew it was forward..... he looked up to start defending the seriousness of the pass.

In general, it was a pretty mixed bag of a performance. They probably should have put at least two tries on the board just through sheer field position. The difference in the two sides was that the Eels scored off most of their opportunities. The Knights did not capitalise on any opportunity, at any stage during the 80 minutes. This team is getting worse...... surely something has to change.

yeah how bad was that forward pass, seriously. I haven't seen it on TV but from the stand it was 4-5m at least forward, and right near a line on the field so easy to judge. hell, the pass after it was forward too, so he missed two! and yes, everyone stopped - perhaps our boys need to play to the whistle...

The only time the knights fans actually got together as a force was with about 22min to go (2nd half).

The knights had put together a good attacking set ~60m, & followed it up with a great defensive set, where parra was going nowhere. :D

The crowd really came alive & you could feel the intensity lift (on & off the field).
Then we knocked on, or muffed a play the ball or some other crap & all that emotion & adrenaline just went stale in our gut.

It was then then the fair weather friends started leaving:(

But if you see a pass as forward as it was, you'd expect the ref to see it. Ordinary performance by an ordinary team. We lacked direction, especially without Bedsy and Joey. Smith played well, but it didn't encourage the boys to do the things that were needed. What surprises me is that in some instances we seemed to stick it up in defence and try some plays in attack but at times we were playing in slow motion and just carting the ball one up from the ruck. What i am saying is in that incredible set where parra had the 20 m restart and we kept them to making 12m through the whole set. Then most of the tries that they scored were just players being lazy around the ruck. The newcastle of old would be giving it all for the whole 80 mins, that was what the culture of newcastle was based on. Playing it tough and smashing the sh*t out of the opposition, but that certainly wasn't on show last night.

We are getting better every week while our key players and coach are getting glory on representative duties.

A 50 point drubbing tends to indicate to me that we're getting worse, not better.

Something funny happened on Saturday after the game: I was cleaning up in upper Western Corporate and there were some guys in one of my boxes that stayed behind for a few drinks so they were carrying on for half an hour after most others had left. When the stadium was just about empty, they all started yelling at 3 people in suits that had appeared on the field, who turned out to be Conway flanked Hughes and Abraham both on crutches hobbling very slowly across to the other side, probably to their after-game drinks. But the fellas in the stand were screaming their heads off at them like it was a footrace (a few choice comments for Conway too), Hughes kept turning round, flashing his smile and waving his crutches at us... I suppose you had to be there...

We have already got the spoon, Souths are 4 games in front and improving, we are getting worse...........do the math!

Souths have probably got 3-4 more wins in them I reckon, we will be lucky to win 2-3 at the most. Its very tempting to borrow as much money as possible and put it on the knights for the spoon but come monday they'll be paying a $1.05!

Yeah and I mentioned his vulnerability in defence and you hounded me something shocking over it.......

And you've got admit that Carmont wasnt any worse then anyone else(I thought he went okay), with the exception of Smith, Newton, Woolnough and Gidley no one was up to first grade standard though our halfs did try.

But anyway you had to feel sorry for Hall with the first 2 kicks by Parra he had to run about 30 metres in field to get them when Thaiday stood there and looked at them and to boot got smashed each time!

Is anyone due back next week surely we cant have Thaiday there again? He was responsible for atleast 7 of the try's.
