46-10. Try Cronk.
Game Over.
If I didn't have to work tomorrow I would be organising a picket of the admin building.
Even getting flogged by Cronulla 64-something I didn't feel this despondent about our future.
For interest, lets compare Newcastle and Melbourne:
they have
- no juniors
- no rugby league culture
- a crap stadium
- far less sponsorship than we have (in the past...)
yet they keep on keeping on.
However in the space of 3 years (since the legacy of Wok faded...) our incompetent management/coaching/recruitment has led to this club, with no natural advantages, being financially iffy, commercially undesirable, and a great source of top quality juniors - for other teams.
We have recruited a bench player from Melbourne for over the odds as our 'star signing', and other than that seem to only ever pick up either everyone else's discards (Witt) or players from local comps (Carmont, Hall, Hancock, Maddison).
On the field, our team displays no enthusiasm, no comraderie, no passion and no HEART.
Contrast this with the side, and the commitment, the Storm have built. They are consistently there-abouts, and have some of the most promising youngsters in the country.
We expect extra from our players - we expect them to want to play for our colours. We expect it to mean more. Clearly at the moment it doesn't.
I think we are right to expect more from our administrators too. Like using the natural advantages our club has at its disposal. Ensuring the financial security of our club. Snaring the best juniors available. Creating a winning culture.
This is not being done.
So something must be done.
