Official team

1. Dane Gagai, 2. Nathan Ross, 3. Sione Mata’utia, 20. Jake Mamo, 5. Akuila Uate, 6. Brock Lamb, 7. Trent Hodkinson (c), 16. Jack Stockwell 9. Danny Levi, 15. Korbin Sims, 11. Tariq Sims (c), 18. Pauli Pauli, 13. Jeremy Smith (c). Interchange: 10. Daniel Saifiti, 14. Tyler Randell, 17. Mickey Paea, 22. Josh King.

I expect Ross to play in the centres rather than Mamo.

Good that confidence is shown in Ross. I wondered how we'd shuffle with Mamo back. If Mamo performs I'd keep that back 5. There's scope for positional changes even with that 5.

Discipline and defence both not even close to first grade standard. It's ridiculous how softly we give away penalties, and the only thing softer is how we deal with the attack after we concede it.

What was that, second tackle? If that was us we'd still be sorting out who should take one of our 5 boring runs inside the opposition 20, but they were coming at us with intent and speed and we had no idea what was happening.

I don't understand trying to play him in the second row. It's like T Rex at the dogs - ideal impact prop - good for limited minutes and in a position where he can get a big run up.

I don't really know why I expect anything else. It's just that little voice that says maybe all the training and video analysis will eventually make a difference and we'll produce some decent football. Not necessarily win, but play like a proper NRL team.

But nope. We are just that bad. Can Brownie really not find a way to get us pumped and disciplined in the first 20 minutes? Even after a flogging? I don't think it's too much to ask that we show some fire, move up in defence, fire up in the forwards a bit. Surely that's the very least we should be able to come up with after the last two matches.

Big play from the Rossdog

I'm very pleased to see the end of Pat Mat. I actually hope Ross can lock down that centre spot. Ross has his faults but in our team I don't see him as one of the problems. He comes up with some good footy sometimes.
