Many times teams come out firing and win their match after a flogging and a week of talk about how bad they are going... Do we have the players that can do this?

That seems to describe Newcastle every week and they are yet to respond that way, so I can't see it happening now unfortunately.

He can physically stand up to any other player (he's over 100kg), its his positioning that has him missing a dozen tackles a game...

The thing is, positioning is only an issue when you are on the fringe and have to line up against 5 players spreading it to the wing. In the middle, he would just need to face up to a player running straight (which he has proven he can do).

This is what i was saying. He doesnt have Mad Dog feeding him the ball anymore, we have shitty centres who cannot pass to save themselves, and we will have the same centres next week and the week after. The imability to get him the ball on the edge is not going to change...

So we can either leave him out on the edge and lament the lost opportunity he represents, or he can deal with the realty that our team cannot set up a winger and bring him infield to be a weapon somewhere else.

Uate in the centres is another option (he cant pass for shit, but thats no different from the rest of the team. At least when he holds it, he is dangerous)...

The reason id rather have him in the middle is because he is either leaving soon, so we should be working on establishing the new edge combinations, or he is not, in which case we should be getting our moneys worth from that $.5mil we have sunk into him.

Him in the backrow wouldnt be too different from a fullback chiming in with the attack, except in defence he wont be the liability he could be at fullback....

First things first, he doesn't miss a dozen tackles a game. secondly, do you think Uate has a good tackling technique? I'm one of Uate's reluctant supporters on here, but his tackling technique is awful. If he gets a good shot on a winger, he still often misses him. To say that Uate being 100kg means that he is able to defend is ridiculous.

The yardstick for size being irrelevant to defensive ability is Tony Williams. A man who could snap a spine with the correct technique but would rather just never look like he has any intention to get physical. His moniker T Rex is ridiculous.

To be fair, I would imagine a tyrannosaurus rex, with it's little little arms, being an ineffective rugby league defender... just like Tony Williams.....

Uate would not have the aerobic ability to continually move up and back in defence for 6 tackles let alone do that for 80 minutes.

On a side note regarding Aku's defence, maybe it's not that he always comes in off his wing but he always goes left. So if we stick him on the opposite wing he would move left to stay in his man... Eh? Eh?

Ah, he is not an ambislider. It's a real condition people!

Whilst I don't expect us to win this one down there. I am just hoping we are holding our own and competitive.

Knights by 6 you heard it here first.

That's right we're keeping the Tigers to 0.

Ross is out, didn't travel with the team. Pat Mata'utia is playing NSW Cup right now so he's out. Cory Denniss will replace him. Cogger didn't play under 20's but I think Hodko is good to go so maybe Cogger is just being rested. Mataora is in doubt too. Will probably look something like this

1. Dane Gagai
20. Jake Mamo
3. Sione Mata'utia
21. Cory Denniss
5. Aku Uate
6. Brock Lamb
7. Trent Hodkinson
16. Jack Stockwell
9. Danny Levi
10. Daniel Saifiti
11. Tariq Sims
18. Pauli Pauli
13. Jeremy Smith
