Without being there mate, I can make a very confident guess. Doolan stuck exclusively to the right hand side of the field, and most times he handled the ball were at second receiver.

Meanwhile, Cornish (wearing jersey 6) played both sides of the field and mostly at first receiver. he would have handled the ball twice as often as Doolan and done nearly all of the kicking.

I don't believe it .... these are just reserve graders - they were probably just accidently running in the wrong places on the field .... if they were first graders they wouldn't have got it wrong

They are not reserve graders, they are depth quality first graders.

Given Melbourne have injuries in the outside backs you'd have to say he's gone from an unneeded backup at one club to a backup at a club with more need for him.

Even at full strength, outside of Will Chambers, their First Choice Options for the Centres for the rest of the year would all be considered back ups (Young Alphabet, Kenner and Hampton). Morgan would be a fair chance against those blokes. Bellyache will always choose a player for defence rather than attack.
