I was still drinking toilet water when Kenny played butnI knew him as a 5/8 only untill he was old and played lock cause to slow.
He was never too slow. He played lock because we had better backs than forwards. He mostly played centre in his final season. He was quite versatile, which apparently means he was shit.

No you're wrong because you think what he is 'known as' is more important than what he actually was. He played most games at 6 because that's where it generally suited the team. But when it suited the team to play centre or lock or even fullback, that's what he did. Like any utility.

In fact I would say most 'five-eighths' are actually utilities, especially back in the day. These days they are often just a second halfback, and not a utility. Dylan Brown is a utility, like his contemporaries Munster, Wighton and Latrell Mitchell (who also played a few games at 6).
Get the f**k out of here.

Kenny and Ella would often swap positions during a game. Sterling and Taylor likewise although Taylor would play in the front line and make a million tackles.
Would you call Paulo a utility? He often plays the halfback role and sometimes plays on an edge.
Fui played 5/8 from every scrum when Anderson was coach. It was about his only move.
Hilditch played prop and hooker.
Muggleton center and second row.
And then we move to our current team where BA wants every player to have a turn in the middle. Does that make them all utilities?

Any forward can play in the middle. It's just that some are better on the edges. Some are better attacking the edges (maybe that describes most forwards) but aren't good enough to defend there.

This was based on where I thought they would be most likely to play for us. Good pickup though. I might move Gutherson back to utility as well.

Bert was a 5/8, the old fashioned type, not a left half, he was a running 5/8

he only changed positions if there was injuries to either zip zip or the Crow, or occasionally in rep footy for team balance, but he was never a utility player

All three grade next Sunday. Flegg, NSW Cup then the big show.

Village People Dancing GIF by de chinezen
Parraeels website has Flegg at both Kellyville and in Wollongong on Saturday but not CommBank on Sunday.
Something is wrong there.

Well, he played 79 games at centre and 163 games at 5/8th for the Eels, so it wasn't that cut and dried. His first 20-odd games for us were as a centre. He played half of the 83 season as a centre (with Ella at 5/8th).

By definition, everyone plays where it suits/suited the team i.e. wherever they are selected (or wherever they move to mid-game if/as required). Useless distinction.

Kenny may have had "utility value"... but for those who were around at the time he was (at Kangaroo , Origin and club level) a five-eighth who could also play centre - and then he played lock at club level when he got older, slower and crankier.
