Didn't Kenny start his FG career as a centre and continue to play there at various times throughout his first grade career? In fact in his final year he played centre in half of the games he played (7 of 14).
Over his career, he played in the centres 30% of the time and at lock 8% of the time.

I was going to give career stats and refer to '83 but Barry beat me to it.

Coach Gibson, Coach Monie and Coach Cronin between them chose the following five eighths and put Kenny in the centres at various times:
- Steve Ella
- Mike Eden
- Brett Scott
- Mark Barnes
- Michael Speechley
- Mark Laurie

now that is a utility

Following this great achievement, Laurie established himself as a regular starter filling in at Lock, second row, centre and five/eighth over the next few seasons.

Following the retirement of Ray Price, Laurie would transition into the lock role whilst filling in at centre and five eighth when required.

One could say, "Brett Kenny debuted in the centres in 1980 following an injury to Tony Melrose and held his spot there when Melrose returned. In round 13 of the 1981 season he transitioned into the five eighth role whilst filling in at centre and later lock when required."

nah

taking 1 or two steps to your right doesn't make you a utility

hell, I saw Mahoney taking a few at 2nd or 3rd receiver against the Storm with Mitch outside him, I guess that makes him a utility as well
I've never seen him play anywhere but hooker.

Well I watch every Parra game. Is Mahoney playing in some of the other games as well? Maybe he's already filling in on the wing for Canterbury?

Ok I will end this right now.

A utility is not a guy who can play multiple positions cause he is versatile and extremely talented. A utility is a guy who generaly isn't good enough to hold down one spot in the starting 13 but provides cover in multiple positions and that is the only reason he is picked in first grade.

Brett Kenny could play many positions he was that gifted. Hayne likewise- Wing,Centre,Fullback,5/8.
TURBO is the same. But there not utilities... May, W.Smith are excellent examples. Neither would make NRL sides unless injuries but they are handy to have on the bench. If the bench was 5 men these guys would ever get picked.
You would carry a back, 3 middles and an edge forward.
