I'll post it here as the Game day thread is getting swamped..

Our development this year looks terrible we are the only club not to play a rookie in the NRL.

Our Cup team is full of plodders.

Toni Mateale looks ok but his defence is terrible especially for cup.

Russell is ok needs to work on acceleration like the rest of our team.

But no one else has stood out. Maybe that's due to the way they have been coached.
This statistic is a little bit skewed as we gave a number of players their debut in the last round last year, when we rested virtually our entire starting 13.

At a minimum, Russell and Ky Rodwell would've debuted this year had we not chosen to do that. Perham would've also had his club debut.

We've also been pretty fortunate enough not to have too many injuries throughout the year.

The premise of your argument is still valid though, the players outside of our Top 20 aren't we're they need to be to take over from the players leaving.

Dylan Brown played in our Harold Matts team, recruited from NZ. How many of our current pathways players are recruited from overseas? Maybe Joey Grima’s passport expired?

My cousins boy was overlooked by Grima.
Penrith,Sharks,Panthers invited him to trial for Sg ball.
Let's see how he progresses.

Russel might have a future. I don’t much from Rodwell bar a big motor. Doubt he is in our best 17 ever.

Russel needs to bulk up. He looks smart and safe but lacks genuine power

Rodwell, had a pretty good junior rep career…..and played NSW cup at 20…

think of all our fringe forwards, he is the most likely to succeed….he is the same age as Hopgood…probably just needs time

I thought the same thing when I did hear the stat. That we played alot of rookies in the last round last season.

I agree with Rodwell he has had a go at first grade and has not really progressed.

He needs a motor and some mongrel to be a stand out.

I have only seen this guys a handful of times. I thought Mataele and Tevita looked the roughest of the lot but with the highest ceiling if polished up well. Hopgood is talented. His passing games elite

Even if he plays every game in SG Ball he’s unlikely to ever play first grade. Clubs need to fill their junior rep teams but they know most kids are just making up the numbers. There would be some surprises though, late bloomers and so on. You never know your luck.

Ur never going to be able to show your wares in 1st grade when you get 6 mins FFS
Every player got their start in first grade before having shown their wares in that grade. They are judged on their ability long before us slobs get to see it on TV.

W

WhO did he pick

Unsure. He trialed for Penrith last week and made the squad. So unsure if he will bother will Sharks or N.Sydney.
I got him a trial for Parra 2yrs ago but they didn't pick him. Barely got a run. Early days. Lets see how he goes.
I know at 17 he is deadlifitng 210kgs and does 60kgs on each arm on incline bench dumbbells. Very strong for an 85-90kgs kid.

From the junior footy I have watched it is hard to spot who is good in trials. You have 60 kids all hogging the ball trying to impress so I can understand it would be hard to pick from that.
