What happened to not weakening a spot to strengthen another with someone who played there once in NRL?

I think we lose a lot with Hoppa on the edge. In the 2nd half, he was hardly noticed.
Well he was the best option to help the left edge defence. Nobody else could've done it. And with him not in the middle, it made space for Ogden and Makatoa to impress with a lot of carries. It's all about what's best for the team, and this week we are short in the edge forward position.

Yes, of course. But he was the middle that they decided to shift out (rather than Maka or Ogden).
Ok but that's not saying a lot. Most middles would be better edge defenders than Makatoa or Ogden. What I'm wondering is whether we will bring in one of the backups to play edge forward, especially if they haven't played for a few weeks.
He started 2022 in the second row for Riff reserves.
Well that's interesting. Opposing him at second row in those two games were Davey and Momoisea!

Is it just me or Hopgood doesn’t look all that big ? He’s like Cam McInnes lock size vs those bigger locks like Matto, Carrigan etc ? Plays above his weight ?

QLD had great success with Corey Parker so J'maine wouldn't look out of place in SOO.

I guess ultimately it comes down to how he goes in opposed sessions vs the NRL side, hits his KPIs and if Cini poses a better option than those ahead of him. I tend to think the same as you about Cini and cannot bring myself to like Simonsson’s game. Yes, he runs hard, but can’t bend the line. He doesn’t have a tackle break in him and he never finds himself in a position to offload to his winger because he’s not good enough.

Bailey is Aldi Opacic.

On the upside, I am pleased that we Cini on Dev contract to 24 cos it’s obvious that there’s something there.

BTW fun fact: did you know that Simonsson played SG Ball at the dirty Dogs with Reed Mahoney?
He led our team for tackle busts this week.

Coz we were making big metres up the middle of the ruck. And then went right on the 4th /5th.

But obviously, #13 is his spot. Depends what other players are available in a given week. In most circumstances you wouldn't even think of shifting him to the edge.

Isnt Murchie an edge but ba looked to play him in the middle and doorey?

Murchie or doorey and Bryce on the edge with hoppa at lock

Middles would be maka, ogden, joe, emu. I don't see why we need to stick hoppa on the edge unless those 2 are injured.

If thats the case then whos next up rodwell or jirrah. Jirrah is an edge. If Joe doesn't come on time then moving hoppa to the edge will weaken our middle

I just think we've got better depth in the middle than on the edge (taking into account Lane's injury and Matto's situation). Murchie is certainly an edge forward (and former centre), and can do a job when pushed. Doorey is a better backrower than him though, if he's fit, he's your guy.

Jirrah looks like a blow out at the moment, but may he'll come good, or less not good.

I'll give 100-1 Moimesea to play NRL again at Parra

Looks like he’s a bit of an all rounder.

Murchie I reckon lacks the mobility and skill to be a good edge player. Plus the speed and acceleration. Butnlacks the frunt to be a prop.
Its a bit funny he has been injured and nobody even took any notice or cared. Shows what fans think of him.
