Knock-on Effect NSW Cup - Eels Team

Agree re Cayless never likely being NRL-level or NRL assistant material.

But also is it possible Sanders is phoning it in a bit, ahead of his delayed week 6 freedom to contract with other clubs?

You're talking about members of the NRL squad, which includes players on the development/supplementary list. They aren't on reserve grade contracts. They are essentially 'loaned' to the reserve grade team each weekend because they didn't make the NRL team that week.

I am talking about players he coaches in games that he puts his name to.

Imagine being the type of coach you think no one would be going anywhere.

Mate you got to stop being content with the loser attitude.

Who knows but isn't a spot for an up and coming coach who has shown potential?? Cayless is a dud and been moved on from every job he's had. We are meant to be a development club how can you call yourself that when this dud is working with all our best young players?? Sanders seems to have lost all confidence.

The guys with potential tend to be assistants to the NRL team coach.

Coaches with potential want to be involved with the NRL squad. Coaching NSW Cup is a big step down. Here's the list of NSW Cup coaches:

Brock Sheppard
Ben Harden
Pat Weisner
Joe O'Callaghan
George Ndaira
Wayne Lambkin
Bronx Goodwin
Michael Potter (remember him?)
Brett Morris
Ron Griffiths
Aaron Payne
David Tangata-Toa
Nathan Cayless

Plenty of big names there ffs. Don't forget Rip Taylor was the greatest reserve grade coach in history or whatever, and never got the chance to coach first grade. Reserve grade is the coaching graveyard. But someone has to do it.

Plenty of names I bet they all work with the 17 players on game day to be better ...

Not sure of your point like I said what is the point of having a coach for NSW cup?

I think the point is that as a club you'd want a reserve grade coach who does the job well... as measurable by indicators such as: positive development of game tactics, positive development of players during your tenure, and results with the team/squad you've got?

Because a team has to run out there for eighty minutes on the weekend. If there’s a video review on Tuesday I bet the NRL staff runs it, not Cayless.

Fair enough we gave him ago last year and the team had no idea. But FMD the team is absolutely playing with no idea. Aimless. Hope they don’t give him a job for life like BA.
