Apologies, had Wenty has kicking off in the first half but that was incorrect. Wenty kicking off in the second half!

French fields the bomb at the completion of the first set and has a decent kick return. Wenty then *shock* earn a penalty as Faraimo take a hit up. Massive touch finder! It flirts close to the sideline but is still a good metre of two passed the line but Gardner tries to dive over and bat it back in. He has cleaned up the Wenty photographer. Poor lady is in a ways, as too is Gardner. Oh dear. Both receiving attention.

Plays resumes on the field. Wenty shape up for a right edge play the sees French try to bullet a ball to Faraimo. Pass looked alright to my blue and gold tinted goggles but the officials see it as forwards.

Another good take under pressure from French. That kick came from a big set as well.

Big second phase play comes this set from Wenty. Started on the right with Nelson, he heads back infield and links up with Pakutoa who continues running up the middle before popping the ball out to the left. Folau quickly shifts it to Goodall who beats some defenders coming back in off his left foot before he is stopped metres short.

Matterson rolls it in goals for *gasp* a repeat set!

Not much doing this set before Matterson looks for another grubber towards the posts. Fair kick but that is a terrific take by a diving forward to get possession in the field of play.

Time off for another injured Newtown player.

Good defensive set as we limit the Jets to a 30m gain.

Faraimo takes the deep kick on the full and makes 15m on the return. Goodall scoots from dummy half with Nelson taking a run down the right. Gets away another offload to Pakutoa and Fred has a chance to pass to the right where we have a 2 on 1 but takes the tackle.

Matterson puts up a bomb that lands 1m out and there is a contest for the ball in the air that sees Gardner come away with it and the ref hesitates and then blows a penalty for offside chasers.

Sloppy miss from Kamikamica on the halfback but it doesn't hurt us fortunately.

Jets bomb Faraimo on the last and he loses it forwards off his shoulder. Fresh set of six to defend on the goal line...

Newtown grubber early in the set, think that was the #7 kicking for the #6, French races across and barely gets their first but knocks on before diving on the ball. Another set to defend.

Our spine are a bunch of kids 19, 20 and 21. Plus Beau f**king Henry the Wenty player.

Look a bit flimsy down the right but hold on none the less. Newtown unsurprisingly focus on that edge but they hold firm but eventually are forced to concede a line drop out as Faraimo is pinned deep in goals.

Excellent tackle by Goodall down the left. Jammed well and stuck. Some razzle dazzle offloads sticking for the Jets before Faraimo makes a very good driving tackle. Attacker was never put in a perilous position but a penalty comes in spite of it.

Must be close to 5 sets on the line now.

Really solid effort, although a tad too late given the scoreboard but Wenty hold resolute and force an error on the last to repel 20-30 plays on their goal line.

How's French looking in a struggling side

Haven't used him much it attack at all. Got caught out of position up the middle after making a tackle once but has defused kicks perfectly all day. Not sure how much he can do given how Wenty are doing up the middle at the moment.

Nice shot side play from Henry gets Crooks into a half gap. Ben can't link up with Faraimo but does get a penalty.

A try goes begging! Matterson has laid it on a platter for Folau with a lovely cut out ball. Folau was through the gap as the ball came but it bounces out of the bread basket. Gee that hurts.

Good positioning from French again for the kick. Throws a long ball to Goodall who takes the return.

Good charge from Moses Manu. Faraim then comes in for a useful gain as well. Seffa turns the ball inside to Lasalo who is crunched. French receives the same treatment when we telegraph the sweeping play. That brings up the last.

Henry puts up a terrible bomb that goes no where but neither team competes for it so it comes to Goodall who puts in an amazing grubber from 25m out. Matterson races after it and goes damn close to scoring but we get a drop out instead.

Alas Lasalo loses the ball on the first carry. Story of the day stuff there.

Holy shit, a penalty for offside defenders! Is this real life?

Alvaro from the tap restart. Seffa runs to the line next. Matterson shifts the ball to French next, Junior Roqico (sp) jams on him - he beats the initial contact but is quickly roped in. Folau runs from dummy half and gets close to the line but foolishly makes a second effort and is correctly pinged for the double movement. Stupid footy there.

Good ruck work from Goodall, gets ZDC clear for a solid dart afterwards. Great run from Crooks next as he bursts down the right. Second phase play between Seffa and Faraimo sees Bureta get close to in goals before a terrible pass from Paulo on the last puts Wenty in all sorts.

Eventually the ball gets to Goodall who is proving to be proficient with the boot as he hoofs a bomb in field that results in a knock on against the Jets.

Beau Henry runs at the goal line and it takes I kid you not 4 or 5 defenders to stop him before he gets a penalty. Seffa and Kamikamica have runs down the middle and left respectively before Beau Henry fires a cut out to Crooks on an overs line. Ben spins through the tackle as he receives the ball and gets over to open the account for the home team.

Conversion is good.

Matterson traps the ball off his foot and ends up taking the run. Decent gain as well. But scratch that, next play Pakutoa has coughed it up.

Hah and Newtown make them pay immediately. Our right edge, fragile as it has been all day is caught short via hands. Jets over in the corner.

Tui K spills it after getting put through half a gap. Not much to say there.

Penalty for the Jets late in the count as Crooks I think gets a hand close to the eyes. Never a gouge but the visiting supporter block gets vocal about it and the ref waits and then penalises.

They don't do anything with the extra possession, quickly turning it over.

Big sweeping play down our left gets Folau one on one and he steams over his opposite and then tries to offload to Goodall behind the opposition winger. Hard one to take and Goodall can't flick it up from below his hips.
