Mounties kicking off to Wenty in the first half.

Lasalo trundles up for the first run of the game. Alvaro is up next with Aloiai to follow down the left. Good run by the young backrower. Faraimo comes in field for a very handy carry before Matterson plays to the line with a short ball.

Henry completes the set with a dab kick in behind, good first set.

Wenty then give away the first penalty of the game with a very silly strip from Faraimo.

Missed tackle from Avlaro lets McCrone make a snipe down the middle but quick work from cover defenders saves Wenty any blushes and they go on to hold out against the potential of a line drop out as Quinlan fields a grubber on his line and JUST makes it back into the field of play.

Slim gain this set for Wenty before Matterson drills it down field and nearly gets a result! Mounties tried to bat it back into play and it gets a very favourable bounce for them to allow their fullback to clean it up.

They go on to complete a simple set that sees Wenty get much better field position this time around.

Error from John Folau there. Matterson throws a cutout ball to him that generates an overlap but the attempted catch and pass from young Folau is butchered and he loses it forwards.

Well then, an ever softer mistake from the home team quickly follows as Glen Buttriss drops the ball from dummy half!

Another strong charge from Aloiai, this one comes from the scrum win. Matterson looks to utilise his bookends before we then earn our first penalty of the game as Sam Gorman is held down in a tackle.

Alvaro is first up and we are first to score from the following tackle! Really slick work from Cody Nelson there who darts from dummy half and throws a short ball to Sam Gorman who powers through the forwards to score!

Conversion is good.

Wenty lead 6-0

Some clean ball playing at the line from the forwards for Wenty. Ryan Matterson carries the ball into Mounties' half to bring up the last which means Henry is the kick option. He sends the bomb up and the home team want nothing to do with it, allowing it to bounce. They are very fortunate not to get pinged for a knock on and go on to compete their set with a good kick that finds the in goals.

Not sure if Quinlan had to play at it but he does and just gets back into the field of play.

Fabian Goodall is on for John Folau who seems to have picked up an ankle injury.

And while I am typing that we score our try of teh season!.

Matterson cut out ball (or was it Henry?) to the right and we get Butler-Fleming into space. He links back up with Toutai who finds Manu who then turns Quinlan back on his inside who finally gets back to Vai Toutai to score! Wonderful stuff!

Conversion is good.

Alvaro gets the carry from the kick off this time around. Moses Manu takes the next run and picks up our second penalty of the game as the ball is reefed out of his grip.

Henry finds touch 10m into the home team's half. Big gain there.

Alvaro up for another run. Lasalo follows. Henry shifts the ball to Toutai on the third but he can only go the line.

We come back to the middle via short ball from Gorman to Alvaro. Henry runs it to the line to bring up the last and Matterson's cross field bomb isn't bad one but neither team can make a clean play at it and Faraimo is correctly ruled to have knocked on in the contest.

Mounties look to catch the Magpies out with some quick dummy half work and although we do well to contain it we go too far in the wrestle and concede a stupid penalty to gift the home team a repeat set.

And they burst through and look certain to score! The bust comes down our right edge but Quinlan makes a terrific try saver on the rampaging #10!

Unfortunately they sucked in defenders due to the break and we are short down our left where a clean backline movement creates the over lap and Bill Tupou plants the ball in the corner.

Conversion is unsuccessful.

Mounties trail Wenty 4-12

Folau has potentially sustained a hairline fracture in his left leg.

Mounties kick early in their set after points, possibly fishing for a 40/20 but Quinlan is on it in a flash and gobbles the kick up.

Not much doing for Wenty this set as we keep it pretty simple before looking for another bomb but this one is taken cleanly this time around.

Joseph Paulo rolled his ankle at training apparently.

Penalty late in the count for Mounties. They take the tap restart from ~40m off our line.

Our right edge defends strongly early in the set so Mounties go to the other edge. We hold out the first movement but Buttriss darts from dummy half and manages to split our pillar/post defenders with a short ball to see Luke Page crash over. Very simple stuff and we will need for urgency around the ruck for sure.

Conversion is good.

Mounties narrow the margin again to 10-12

Big chance for Wenty as the home team come up with a forward pass early in their set. Matterson runs the ball from the scrum win. Kamikamica is on for his first run. Goodall takes a crash ball down the left with the pass supplied from Matterson. Kamikamica has a second carry as we head back to the posts and then find Toutai down the right to bring up the last.

Hahaha! Well talk about easy! Henry bombs it to the left on the last and Goodall gets a tap back to the right. Everyone just watches the ball roll back towards the sticks except for Cody Nelson who scoops it up and scampers over to score!

Conversion is good.

Wenty lead 18-10.

Messy work from the kick off as we fumble the initial take and then throw a stupid offload to put us under even more pressure...

There is a good run from Tui Kamikamica but Goodall undoes all the good work as his offload goes straight into the hands of a defender. Silly stuff from Wenty all around.

Another penalty comes to the home team but I don't mind that one, it allows the line to reset and indeed a good shot down our left edge has forced the ball loose. Gorman got a sneaky hand on the pill there! We will take it.

Wenty break the string of penalties to the home team as they pick up one of their own. We find touch just shy of half way and unleash Aloiai from the tap restart.

Kamikamica is used to centre the pill while Fred Pakutoa is on for his first run afterwards. Henry takes the ball down the right via Moses Manu and Kamikamica had another carry to bring up the last. Henry tries to roll the ball in goals down our right but Stuart Mills cleans it up in the field of play and we concede a penalty shortly after for a high shot.
