He is being played in the centres for both HYC and NSW Cup for a reason. Centres can have go forward too Poops.

Goodall will be a class centre and as far as I'm concerned Morgan can go on the wing bechase he cant pass or catch.

Oh and yeh, Semi threw a pass on Saturday so lets play him in the centres.

You want someone who can't catch to play on the wing?
Isn't that why Toutai is unpopular?

But not as much because they don't get back for kicks. Your best winger is guaranteed at least one carry every exit set. Your centres aren't.

Goodall has a lot of work to do on his defence before even being considered as a first grade centre. Just like Vai Toutai (who also plays centre in reserve grade).

In over 60 NRL games Ryan Morgan has only played wing four times, when all our other wingers were unavailable. He is a centre.

Oh and yeh, Semi threw a pass on Saturday so lets play him in the centres.

Well that's your argument with Goodall.

Funnily enough Ryan Morgan was a winger pretty much his entire junior career. It wasn't until SK plucked him from relative obscurity to play in 1st grade in the centres has he had a sustained run in the position

That's because in junior footy the shit coaches just put their big slow outside backs at centre and their small fast ones on the wing. NYC teams are usually too stupid to exploit this anyway.

Nice run and offload from Alvaro. Looks like a big boy, didn't he sign on for one more year?

He is on the books for at least one more year. Stagger might be able to give you the particulars.

Really nice bloke too from what a few people have told me.

Due to the appreciative celebration of the home crowd, the only change I caught was Henry Rawalui coming into the centres.

Apologies...

Shocking twist! Pauli Pauli has ditched the silver suit for the black and white of the Magpies.

He is lining up on the left edge for Wenty.

The Magpies will be receiving the kick off in the first half.

Alvaro has the first carry of the game. Wenty then come to their left via Pauli who earns the first penalty of the game.

Pauli takes the tap restart but loses the ball in the tackle. Mixed bag already for Wenty.

Penalty to the Dogs now so they go on the attack but much like Wenty they too lose the ball early in the count.

Maliota takes the opening charge in this set. The Polar Bear goes next before Pewhairangi comes to Pauli. Nice work from Api and Hunt puts Cecil Mackenzie down the left sideline. He is pulled down metres short and that brings up the last. The ball comes to Kelly who wants to bomb the other corner for Ben Fritz but the kick is a poor one and heads out on the full.

Hunt traps a difficult kick with his foot and picks up a perfect bounce for his efforts.

Ma'afu put pressure on the kicker and has stayed down afterwards. He has walked off the field and Danny Howard has raced out to take his place.

Meanwhile, back in the game Wenty have driven the ball down their right edge. Kelly turns the ball back to the left on the last with a banana kick but Pewhairangi was offside on the chase.

Canterbury nearly break through our left edge but good work from Maliota on the inside brings down the opposition centre. The Dogs have the lead foot on the last with their grubber rolling dead without too much worry.

Wenty once again get themselves in a position for an attacking kick. Kelly's range is far better this tim around but Rawalui is beaten in the air. That a pretty good leap by the Canterbury winger.

Poor defence from Wenty up the middle now as the Dogs cut them apart. The bullocking Canterbury forward links up with support but the Wenty cover defence do a damn good job trapping the pill before nabbing possession on the next play.

Hunt fires what looks to be a great kick downfield. It falls between defenders and rolls in goals where it JUST takes 1 turn too many for a 20m restart.

A penalty to the Dogs late in the count gives them a great chance build towards points.

Pauli Pauli makes a good tackle down the left but then gives away a penalty for holding on in the tackle.

Well now that will do me. The Canterbury player has decided to try a cheeky tap after the ref set the mark but lost the ball backwards where it was cleaned up by a Wenty defender.

Instead of playing on the ref brings play back for another tap kick.

The Dogs roll the ball in goals early in the set and look to have secured a line drop out but a chaser must have been off side as Wenty get the penalty.

A bit of heads up play of Kelly there. He beat the rushing defenders and threaded in a well weighted grubber. Unfortunately, Ben Fritz wasn't awake to the play and had too much ground to make up, meaning that the ball rolled into touch 10m out from the Canterbury goal line.

The Dogs make a soft mistake after some good ruck defence from Wenty. The ball was turned over just on Wenty's side of halfway.

Pauli takes the hit up from the scrum win and draws another penalty as the defenders lay on him for too long.

Alvaro is called on by Api to take the first hit up from the tap restart. Pauli comes in field to take a charge up the guts. Kelly, looking for a trick play, kicks early for Fritz with a stab chip. Either the kick was just too heavy or Fritz mistimed his run but a try goes begging as Fritz fails to pull the kick in.

Canterbury play out a simple set but after completing said set with a kick the touchy raises his flag and comes into the field of play to talk to the ref.

Kelly is called out (as captain I believe) and we come back nearly 50m downfield for a penalty to the Dogs. Not sure what happened there, maybe contact with the kicker? Although that should be where the ball was fielded I thought?

Some loose defence down our left to start thing off. It takes a few attempts to pull the runner down but when we do he loses the pill.

Alvaro scoops up the ball and does well to drag a few defenders along with him for 10m. Wenty do well to drive the ball onwards for a good 60m gain but chaos reigns on the last tackle as Alvaro is given the ball by Pewhairangi. The Polar Bear quickly tries to link up with Kelly but the pass is a tough one for the half to take and he drops it.

Clinical set from the Dogs. They ruck it out to the Wenty red zone and trap Hunt in goals with a good grubber.

Line drop out.

Ma'afu seems to have recovered as is on the sidelines looking to come on. Another solid set from the visitors that yields another line drop out. Fritz might have had a chance to get back in the field of play as he attempted to clean up the grubber but made a meal of it and batted it dead.

Jones is pinged for holding down after making a pretty strong tackle. Marginal call there but them's the brakes.

Canterbury attack Wenty's left edge early in the set before centreing the ball. They then venture down the opposite edge but are held up to bring up the last. They look for the crossfield bomb and their #2 comes flying in between Rawalui and Mackenzie to take the ball and the opening points for the game.

The conversion is successful.

Canterbury lead Wenty 6-0

28min gone.
