Obviously getting well beaten today by the team 1 place above us.
I have not watched just the score update.
Anyone shed any light on why or is jut down to coaching again.?
BLM01, the first half was just like the start of the NRL match last night. Missed tackles, dropped ball and penalties. 6-22 at half time. The 2nd half was much more even with the Dragons having plenty of chances but handling or poor last tackle options letting them down. One last play option involved 3 or 4 passes all going behind the intended recipient. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Another ended with George Burgess putting a little bomb up and it going 5 metres backwards! Another Involved Max Feagai managing a 5cm grubbers. Seriously, what skills do they practise?

No one put their hand up for NRL selection, I am sorry to report. Any positives? I thought Burgess looked fitter and was harder to stop than in his NRL and Cup games I have seen this year. But the way he moves other than with ball in hand makes me wonder about his recovery. Jackson Ford played long minutes at prop and never stopped trying in attack and defence and as Capt tried to keep the ref honest which has not seemed part of Dragons footy since Ben Hornby. Coric ran straight and hard. Jack Gosiewki ran a hole to score a try untouched. Billy Burns is bigger than I remember from TV last year. Tried hard without real impact

Tyrell Sloan went close to setting up a try with a break and pass and back up but his defence failed to stop 2 Souths tries. Strangely he swapped positions with Treigh Stewart 5 mins before half time and played out the game on the wing. Possm would be pleased to see him out up a nice bomb - seems to have more kicked Ng ability than Junior.

Late in the game Jack Boyling showed some pace off the mark almost setting up a try. I know nothing about him and couldn't quite work out his position lining up between Gosiewki and Feagai on the right.

Typical coaching issue. Ford is not a prop. We need to go find some more big men to give us 8 worthy props between the 2 grades.
ATM we appear to have about 4-5 max

Good summary Boyling never played that was Herring the flegg 6
The game was lost b4 it started we were two forwards down from start who the f**k has a half and a winger n the bench

Apologies about my error, Jeremy. Thanks for the correction. Helps to explain Zac looking nippy and me not grasping what position he was playing. I do remember the no 6 Francis leaving the field late in the game. Yes, McCann came on with about 5 mins remaining. Obviously the coach has been to Mary's course on bench rotation.

This issue was exacerbated today by Kerr and Hunt being up in Townsville. Having watched about half the NSW Cup games this year I would argue a real priority for the club is to have enough spine players in the top 30 squad so that barring injuries both NRL and NSW Cup teams have good specialist players in these positions. If you want the NSW Cup to be producing NRL players they need those specialists in position. The squad this year has just one hooker and one 5/8 to service the 2 teams.

just watched the highlights, sloan looks terrible. why do we hype him up so much when he arm grabs even more than Dufty? even on the wing a winger literally ran straight over him. he is scared to tackle and will never lose this out of his head now. he is done and can piss off to Redcliffe now.

I say let go as many of the non-performing players as possible at the end of this season. Then concentrate on bringing in as many top-grade first-graders that our cap will allow. Back-fill with local juniors and appoint mentors to help them be readied for NRL standards:
Billy Slater for Ramsey, Sloan, and Stewart
Cooper Cronk for Sullivan and Amone
Sam Burgess for F Molo, M Molo, and Coric
Matt Cooper for the feagai Twins, Suli and Lomax

Down 12-8.
Hunt trying to hard dropped one ball and poor pass from kick off.
Sullivan a try and hb scored.
One of Mounties tries was a chip where Sloan didn't get to it and attack the kick letting it bounce.

Lost 41-40.
Defence non existent and soft..
Can see why some of these are in reggies.
Sullivan was good the hb was also good.
But the scoreline says it all.
Faegai suffered another injury didn't look good
Gosiewski played in the centres in the 2nd half.
Badger was the ref and can see why she's not ref in 1st grade.

Jeff you are right about Casey Badger , many dubious decisions that would have been challenged in NRL game.
Anyway I thought Sullivan and Gosiewski were our best . Max Feagai looked like it might be another ACL for him , tragically.

I have a feeling that the Badgers are not fans of the Dragons.

Does the coach of the KOE Cup team have assistants and if so, who is the defensive guy? If Sloan has been put into the reserves because Hook wants him to improve his development, particularly in defence, then is he actually getting the right coaching in that grade? I doubt it.

Your right Dragon Dave they are not fans of the Dragons, they are Cronulla refs and nothing has changed
