@LachlanDMcLean: WIN didn't renew the naming rights for @JubileeOval from 2013 - a decision that followed the announcement of only 4 Jubilee games in 2014.

Goes a long to explaining why the Charity Shield was played in Wollongong.

Does it really matter? Council owns the ground, so Dragons would see no money from it anyway

Just to clarify... are you saying that all ground sponsorship goes entirely into the council coffers?

Im not sure if the whole lot goes to council, but lets assume it does Willow.

Isn't that better than no revenue at all, for the council and/or us ?

Doesn't it give the club some leverage with local council, to deliver a revenue stream for naming rights?

I had no idea Win pulled it naming rights for Kogarah. Disappointing.

PS thanks for the update R2k.

If we are not careful, Kogarah may be a thing of the past...

That would make sense, they own it after all.

This doesn't really seem like news, WIN don't actually operate in Kogarah so it's sensible for them to not advertise there.

Well let's look into it. I think you'll find it ties into package sponsorship deals, along with jersey and published advertising. And the club negotiates this, in consultation with the council. So yes, I think the club does benefit.

The $ are a big loss. All of the naming rights income from OKI & WIN was invested into the Jubilee sinking fund/reserve. An asset must be maintained.

R2k, can you clarify.
Is what you mention " jubilee sinking fund ", controlled by the council?
Are the funds therefore to be used for maintaining / improving Jubilee Oval?
Thats the way I read it, correct me if I am wrong.
Cheers

If WIN pulls out, and SX takes over, how do we know there is any loss without knowing the actual numbers involved?

That's correct. It is all money for the benefit of Jubilee Oval. It is not used for any other purpose.
